Aahhh, plucking my fingers. It’s so ingrained in my head that there is some special separate process (that I don’t control) in my brain taking care of this.

My wife will slap my hands when I do it because I asked her to help me stop it but even when in my head I’m like “stop. It. Now.” then one hand just moves to the other and starts plucking and I’m like “wtf, I said stop!”

The one thing that I’ve noticed that helps is prayer beads. I’m atheist, but they work wonders to occupy that little process in my head, I redirect all it’s attention to those beads and so with one hand I’m moving the beads one click forward every half second or so all day long. That works!

Cover each of the tips of your fingers with a bandaid. It will stop you from biting them. Replace as needed. If you remove the bandaid so you can bite them, you have a psychological issue you need to address, usually stress related.

Ooh I know a fun fact about this one.

In Turkey, carrying prayer beads in public as an old person means you are in a gang, while young person means you are a gang wannabe.

Similar to certain tattooos and hats in other countries.

I can’t believe nobody has suggested vitamin D deficiency. One person suggested vitamin deficiency and sure it may be more than just vitamin D, but vitamin D deficiency can make your skin dry. Specially the genitalia areas. Also you might have issues sleeping, bone density, teeth decay, ridges on your nails etc.

Interesting how much people don’t understand. So for u normies, non autistic people here: NO , the skin doesn’t get like that by its own, it’s not moisture, cream or anything, it’s just we can’t stop messing with our thingers and constantly damage the border of nails like that.

For me it is biting and chewing the skin around.

When it bleeds I also drink the blood.

Yes, I’m a vampiric who selfcanibalizes myself.

One day I will evolve to Ouroboros

Am I not the only one? Most people I’ve heard of eat their nails. I’m the only one I’ve ever known who chews on his cuticles.

Not since I was in my early 20s, and it seems like it’s more common with young people.
