I want to make a playlist with some livesets, these are usually an hour. I have added these into a playlist and I cannot for the life of me stop YouTube from continuing halfway where I once stopped some of them.

Starting from the beginning and letting it play for 10 seconds, pressing on the timeline at the start a few times. Nothing works.

At this point disabling the option of automatic saving / continuing is fine but I can’t find and options whatsoever.

Am I dumb or is YouTube just stupid?

Youtube has been intentionally made worse year over year for the last 12-15 years. Nobody knows exactly why. But it has been.

Youtube has been an innovator in enshitification since before that term existed.

This is the behaviour of a monopoly. There is no better alternative so people stick with it and Google knows it. Why improve when you have no competition?

Haven’t tried the YouTube app for years, but watch the content all the time - using newpipe/pipepipe and freetube/Kodi. I usually just “subscribe” to a few channels and stick to those

Can I ask what you recommend? I just have the standard add block and sponsor block running which definitely helps but the user experience could definitely be better.

I noticed years ago that youtube search give up after like 10 results and then just spits up the generic algorithm recommendations.

There was always the joke about watching one video and your feed being filled with that type of video, but it’s genuinely that bad now. And if you dare to watch a second one you’re done for.

I’ll watch one video of someone I like. Randomly another video starts playing right after, before I have a chance to click away, my feed degenerates into some crazy slop.

You got to go into history and remove it. Its annoying but it works well.

Also keep in mind that hovering over a video and watching more than a few seconds adds it to your history and thus yt suggestions

I don’t use this plugin myself, but if you’re using Firefox, you might take a look at it, as it provides a bunch of browser-side configurability. I don’t know whether the feature you’re looking for is there, but as far as I can tell, it aims to be a pretty large bucket of pretty much every add-on YouTube feature one might want.

I was looking at it a while back for something unrelated, a UI tweak that I was hoping that it might do.

This was it! Thanks, amazing that something so simple needs a seperate plugin. You saved the night.

This can probably also disable the mini PiP player so I can die a happy dude… :)

I suspect if you disabled watch history it won’t remember. You can also selectively remove videos from your watch history. I’m not sure if there are separate settings for watch history and timestamp.

Playing just a few seconds may not be enough. Two minutes should be. So it determines you’re actually intending to watch where you are (at the beginning).

it skips to somewhere in the middle because it thinks you’re more likely to stay on the video if it starts there
