Hey Democrats, check it out. When you stand up to fascists, they relent.

    Try it sometime.

Edit: I see your downvote, Chuck Schumer.

they can’t, they’re too busy sitting in committees ensuring they make witty comments so they end up as sound bites on some random tiktok or video on reddit.

We should start a betting pool to see how badly they fuck up trying to force a shut down without having a single well-communicated and widely accepted policy demand, trying to play the cautious middle, and wrapped in 37 layers of “We have to play the political game they hand us to even hope of making small incremental change to the massive steamrolling happening right now.”

FFS, demand a $15 minimum wage, legalized weed, and better ACA subsidies. No American not working in the WH will balk at that.

The idiots will wheedle and whine before demanding UBI and national ACA coverage and garner exactly zero support.

The Democrats are structurally incapable of making any of those demands, except for legalized weed, as that does not improve the material economic conditions of the 99%.

Anything that improves material economic conditions of the 99% are policies that are violently opposed by their donor class, and the donor class always wins.

It would release thousands of people from Federal prisons on BS drug charges, mostly people of color, and create agricultural jobs. Legalizing weed has been shown to be a huge economic net benefit every time it’s been studied.

              That’s not what I’m saying.

Giving people more, or better, health insurance, or raising minimum wage, are policies that the donor class feels comes at their expense. Either monetarily, or by giving the peasants more financial freedom, which they view as weakening their strangle hold on society.

They may have moral objections to marijuana, but enough of them also want to get richer off of it, so it’s not the same thing.

From what I’ve learned several factors played a part in this.

    1. Contracts, the sinclair can only say no to disney so many times before disney can cut sinclair off things like NFL games, and other contents that sinclair wants access to
    2. Advertisers were pissed
    3. Lots of complaints from viewers.

He’s one of those “how can an atheist be a good person without the promise of heaven?” type of Christians. You know, the kind of Christian who can’t imagine doing the right thing just because it’s the right thing, and not because there’s a reward for it.

A bunch of years ago, a buddy of mine was asking me how I went from devout catholic to atheist. At one point in the story, I said I realized that my beliefs in right and wrong, and how we should treat each other, didn’t depend on the existence of god - that I would live my life the same way if you could prove there was or wasn’t a god. He seemed surprised, so I asked what he’d do differently if it was proven that god didn’t exist. He thought for a minute, then said “Well, I might kill someone.” I truly didn’t know how to process that, especially since the guy was both very kind and gigantic/ripped.

He doesn’t avoid killing someone because he won’t go to heaven when he dies, he avoids killing people because he knows he’d go to prison for the entirely of THIS lifetime, and deep in his subconscious, he knows damn well that this is all he gets.

I always love hearing that I am an Atheist so I can rape and or murder people. Thankfully Penn Jillette’s response to that statement gets them every time, “I do rape all I want. And the amount I want is zero. And I do murder all I want, and the amount I want is zero.” I always enjoy then asking how many people they are not raping and murdering solely because a book (or their imaginary friend if I am feeling spiteful) tells them not to.

I’ve always felt that if he thinks you can’t be a good person without religion, then he’s not a good person.

I don’t need the promise of after life or heaven to treat people with care or respect.

He’s kind of an asshole. He believes that men can’t be friends with women. Basically that the only reason to befriend a woman is to try to sleep with her.

He’s cheated on his wives and then blamed his wives for letting him be around women.

He’ll get married, cheat on her, blame her for not stopping him, get divorced, repeat.

He’s made some anti-gay comments as well.

And some other just general asshole things.

I’d link you to Wikipedia but someone scrubbed it.

Basically he blamed his wife being too easy for cheating on her, wrote a book that says the only way a woman can get respect is if she withholds sex and a lot of other frankly gross dating advice.

He’s one of those “atheists have no morals because they don’t have good” types, made some offensive comments that nobody wants to date Asian men. He also stuck by Bill Cosby after the rapt allegations came out (no idea how long that lasted).

I just think he’s a selfish jackass with no moral compass and a huge ego, who assumes his lack of morals reflects on everyone else and who takes no personal responsibility for his mistakes (when he gets backlash he does issue non apologies that are basically “I didn’t mean to”).

While it’s great that the little bitch ass fascism supporter capitulated, well like a bitch, it’s important to remember they’re still supporters of fascism and the boycott should and must go on.

Here’s a Sinclair and nexstar advertiser tracking site. Feel free to flip through the affiliate and log those local advertisers and let them know you don’t support fascism and you don’t support fascism enablers like them either and share it around.

Sinclair is still a fascist-loving company and will never make a dollar of ad revenue off of me ever again. Sucks for me when a football game I want to see is on ABC (my local affiliate is Sinclair-owned), but otherwise anything worth seeing on ABC is available on YouTube. I’ve never really watched Kimmel, but now I watch and like his monologues on YouTube every day.

Unless you’re a Neilsen household (or buying the advertised products), you watching OTA programming doesn’t really benefit Sinclair.

I’d say give yourself grace and watch what you want.

This really isn’t true anymore with smart TVs. They take samplings of everything you’re watching all the time and send it back to the mothership. And I guarantee you that Sinclair and other stations buy that information from, say Samsung for example.
