I know a lot of people don’t really care, but I’m fucking here for this. Stahelski has earned my trust with action choreography, and Cavill gives a shit about the properties he works on. I’m stoked. Bautista is just icing on the cake.

I’m of the opinion that the original Highlander was barely above b-movie schlock, and it became a cult hit for being better than it should’ve been and little else. (ie soundtrack)

As such, I have low expectations for this reboot but will be happy if it’s good.

It is absolutely B-movie. It just happened to hit a certain vibe. Compare Highlander to the infamously MST3Ked Cave Dwellers, and it’s the same level.

      “What’s he writing?”

      “The script.”

In a lot of ways the TV show was better. Mythos and that whole idea was incredible.

Same with Flash. The movie was low budget shit but the Queen soundtrack made it legendary. I actually tried to rewatch Highlander recently and was surprised at how poorly it stood up compared to my memory.

The first one was great because a Frenchman played a Scott, A Scott played a Spaniard, Clancy Brown did we he did and. The queen soundtrack rocked.

Once that was gone everything Highlander has sucked ass.

unlike ROCK, who wanted to take of the dcu, and is pretty much a camera whore, at least people who worke dwith him, do not like him behind scenes. dave is an actor, while rock only ever wanted the glory of a movie star.

This movie is going to have to be amazing to have been worth being made at all, in my opinion.

If they’re not aiming for better than the original in every regard, they should just stop now.

Rewatched the original, it’s a bad movie, the only good things it has going for it are: a killer soundtrack by Queen, a cool premise, the actor playing the bad guy is just a joy to watch. Being better than the original is easy, except for the soundtrack, it is just unreachable.

First off, you’re wrong. Second off, it has held up better than The Crow. Third, you’re wrong.

Just because people say there’s no such thing as a wrong opinion doesn’t mean that that’s actually true, and I’m going to use your response as evidence thereof.

All kidding aside, which yes I am kidding, I respect your right to have your own opinion about the movie. It’s not even in my top 20. I just think that it’s a very good movie, specifically for the time and the framing that it was placed in.

It told at the time what was a very new and interesting story with a crossover between fantasy and modern reality and bringing computers into fantasy story was basically unheard of at the time.

It realistically approached the concept of immortals in the modern world, while telling the backstory of the immortals, and explaining why we should care about the protagonist, and wedging in a love story and romances, the mentor’s training saga of the traditional Hero’s Journey, a bunch of fight scenes, and it did all of that without being a 3 movie franchise.

It’s an incredibly ambitious movie, and in my opinion, just because it did not reach the highest heights, does not mean that it did not scale a mountain.

On a scale of one to five, I would honestly give it a four.

        The acting is pretty good.

The storyline is interesting and unique.

And you also have to take into account what was available to the writers and the movie producers at the time.

I haven’t heard of this before and now I wish I didn’t because I can’t wait. I was burnt out on reboots but have recently seen a few that made me less bitter about them (Naked Gun, Rescue Rangers). Turns out you just need competent people who have genuinely good grasp on source material and Cavill looks like one.

Maybe they’ll do sequels this time? ;)

I know this is from the series, but it would be amazing if they do a remake of the 4 Horsemen arc.

Shouldn’t Cavill be focused on the Warhammer 40k series that was announced back in 2023?
