It is pretty interesting to see the viral videos of 16+ years ago and how they’re both similar and different to what makes the rounds today. I’m sure there’s video essays and retrospectives that would do a better job of analyzing them than me but I’m just here to link the originals. Cheers.
It’s a millennial meme. Gmod edits have been around for years and years. Gen alpha unearthing and worshipping it because they don’t understand is weird but not exactly new.
Now making a movie about it directed by Michael Bay? That’s true Hollywood brain rot.
When I said not exactly new I was trying to refer to gmod surrealism memes but I didn’t find the words yet. I was under the impression that skibidi toilet was at least a few years old but I guess not.
Too be fair perhaps were just getting old and the world is changing to become unfamiliar to what we used to. This is probably what the boomers thought of us I bet. It’s just funny how every generation seem to hate the next one.
In all seriousness… Skibidi toilet is probably one of the egregious examples of brain rot in our society. Gen alpha is truly cooked.
Yeah, ok. Badger badger mushroom mushroom. My spoon is too big, my anus is bleeding. Charlieeee, the magical leoplurodon charlieeee.
Every generation has this nonsense. Don’t pretend we didn’t.
I’m trying to remember the brainrot memes from my childhood but I can’t because I am le tired
Take a nap AND ZEN REMEMBER ZEE BRAIN ROT!

I’VE GOT A BIG BAG OF CRABS~
At least skibidi is a quasi commentary on stuff. As opposed to salad fingers or the quiznos rats. (I know salad fingers has actual deeper lore)
I grew up on most of the examples you quoted. They’re Emmy award winning masterpieces compared to Skibidi Toilet.
“The past is better because I’m used to it”
Did I get that right?
To be fair, dragosta din tei is an absolute banger, but I’m not sure if the numa numa dance video classifies as brain rot.
Nah, that was our Tiktok.
ok mr. what does the fox say

Nah, it’s definitely a Gen-Alpha/Z meme. Millenials were more Badgers and Mushrooms sort of memes.
Yes, G-Mod is the medium for this, but this specific thing is new.
And Michael Bay I guess felt he must outshine the emoji movie…
Gmod surrealism is older than the kids that watch skibidi toilet.
Didn’t say that the concept of absurdist G-Mod stuff is new, it’s that the singular specific “skibidi toilet” thing is new.
