Like users that are known for a gimmick or that everyone sees alot?
@[email protected] is a meme god.
@[email protected] keeps history alive and the Confederacy in check.
@[email protected] is our resident owl afficionado.
There are many others, of course, but I seem to notice these three a lot in my Subscribed feed.
@[email protected] has just completely become the account keeping historical memes and historical illustration communities going, which I very much appreciate.
I’m honored to be listed with those 2 posting machines!
It always means a lot you all take the time to read my posts.
You’d get an upvote for the GGI alone from me
There is so much gold in that show! ❤️
100%. I was there from the original airing of the pilot episode through the last 22 years of multi-year breaks between seasons.
LOL a couple years ago one of my closest friends who happens to be about the furthest away from me of any of them. Shot me a message asking me to guess who they were having lunch with. I had no idea. But it turned out that she had bumped into Lisa hammer and they had been hanging out a bit. They both live up in New York near the Bronx. I may have gotten some signed Triana swag out of the deal LOL
I started during season 1 with my best friend at the time. It took me a bit to get into it, but once I was, I started back from the beginning and then it just got better every season.
Trina episodes are great. The one with the double date is one of the best. The whole set of bathroom scenes are so hilarious!
Yes would have been interesting to see if Tirana’s character got a little more development had Lisa and Doc not split. But she seems to be doing well and is enjoying her work in film out there in New York. So it’s all good.
But yes the rogues gallery on that show was always one of my favorites personally. The Thin White Duke as the sovereign complete with a Klaus Nomi/Iggy pop cameo in the second season finale I think it was? And all the other absurd villains and heroes they just shucked out left and right. Not to mention 21 absurd story arc.
Along with those already mentioned, my personal heroes are people who keep communities alive:
@[email protected] posts comics daily to [email protected] and others
@[email protected] keeps [email protected] going
@[email protected] posts regularly about [email protected]
@[email protected] has been killing it on [email protected]
Thanks but lately you and other subscribers have been posting a lot too!
Love you @[email protected], but I spazzed out recently after a full year of pressing too hard for a ‘post per day,’ and I feel like I dishonored everyone here when I melted down recently. (I’m super-embarrassed)
So I appreciate the mention, but regardless of how I embarrassed the community, I can’t aim for one scholarly post per day, anymore. I just can’t. Sorry about that, matey.
Now I do plan to keep on posting as the mood seeks me, but I just CAN’T keep the community popular like this, all on my own. Even just a little bit of help would go far.
Ugh, sorry for all the bitching and moaning. :S
Don’t worry about it fam. Lemmy isn’t like a news broadcast, it’s more like a family dinner, it’s OK to go off on a rant every once in a while. And there’s no obligation to post every day, just post when you feel like it and where you feel like it. The fact is, you posted quality content a lot for a long time, and that’s commendable.
<3
@[email protected] and @[email protected] both post a shitpile of news articles.
My dear, sweet @[email protected] posts so many science memes it makes my head spin
@[email protected] has been a constant presence who seemingly posts at all hours of the day, probably the biggest Lemmy “celebrity” that I can think of.
<3
Also appears to be a genuinely witty, standup dude.
Y’all are going to make me blush.
They post so much I thought it was a community for a while and not a singular person posting
I just realized right now that it was a user and not a community lol
It’s not a whole community?
DBZer0, aka Divide By Zer0. He runs an instance with the same name. He’s one of the old mods on r/piracy and helped lead an exodus over to Lemmy
Awww, thanks. It stands for “Divided by Zer0” btw ;)
TIL what the “DB” stands for, I thought it was for “database” lol
I see a lot of posts from @[email protected].
They post good memes, insightful comments, moderates a few communities I think.
probably not a real squid though, I don’t think they got internet in the ocean
probably not a real squid though
I am currently visiting some friends I’ve been talking to on a forum for years but have never met. We’ve all been really close despite that. It’s sort of a three-day forum party and it’s been amazing.
Why do I bring this up?
I needed a shirt to wear for the first day so I didn’t have to keep telling people who I was and I found the perfect shirt. (Excuse the crease, I took the picture the day after.)
Edit: are the downvoters disillusioned by the revelation of my false endoskeleton?
How are the clarinet lessons going these days?
I have seen their name a lot, and though I think I share similar opinions with them on a lot of things, I find they tend to be more condescending and insulting for my particular preference.
he also has a habit of replying to people without fully reading what they’ve written, creating long chains where he blames everyone else for his failings. it’s ugly.
Yeah, I had to ban him… Dude’s got some serious issues.
Where exactly did you have to ban me from? Because I just looked at your post history and I’m not banned in any of the communities where you post.
Strangely, for me being a dude with serious issues, you aren’t worried about posting regularly in the communities I moderate.
I don’t think most people look at the list of moderators before submitting content.
He also uses the fact that he is a mod to bully people. He just holds it over the conversation at times to force it to go the way he wants.
heh, case in point.
I don’t exactly make it a secret that I moderate World News or Lemmy Shitpost, where they have posted multiple times. Including in reply to me. The big red M next to my name makes it kind of hard to miss.
And that still doesn’t tell me where they supposedly banned me from.
I think this post may be an example of that
He also uses the fact that he is a mod to bully people. He just holds it over the conversation at times to force it to go the way he wants.
Checks community’s modlist
I’ve seen them a lot as well, but personally in my interactions, I’ve found them to be abrasive, narrow minded, and eager to take things personally. Lowkey don’t mind that, it’s not the internet if everyone is some polite bland npc.
But add mod powers for many communities and…
and that right there is the problem. Lemmy is back to Reddit’s power-mod problem.
I’ve seen them goad people into arguments and then smugly mute them and tell them they need a timeout lmao
Same.
I dislike flying squid because of how they interacted on that one post with comic involving double standards on pictures of children
Denying people’s trauma and right to not have those images be shown to others without permission is not a nice thing
No love for @[email protected] ? They’re not always the best troll, but man are they prodigious.
Putting their comments aside, I think it’s really impressive how they came up with the perfect four word combination to blue-screen my brain every time.
not just a bad troll, but has some messed up takes on the world.
For example, he’s against OHS. Good on Lemmy for knocking that Idiocy down to -185 or more, but still. No.
What is ohs?
*Quick Google
Occupational Health and Safety?
yep.
One of the only names in this thread I recognize
I asked my mom and she didn’t really understand what Lemmy is but she assured me that I am the coolest person on here.
An autographed headshot will run you $20
@[email protected] obviously
There are some infamous ones for the amount of misinformation they post.
Some even under this very post…
I really hope Lemmy eventually gets significant enough attention that Whang! does a video about stuff that happens here, so I can hear him say your screen name out loud.
If you vote me down, I shall become more famous than you can possibly imagine.
Flying squid
but not in a good way.
Until this thread, I didnt realize so many Lemmy users had an issue with Flying Squid. Perhaps its because I tend to agree with a lot of his takes, but I just find him abrasive at worst. Like…unafraid to not sugarcoat an uncomfortable truth.
Dudes definitely everywhere though.
FlyingSquid believes that your internet browsing history should be made public if you are running for any political position. Worst take of all time.
What about for politicians who think your internet history should be public? ;)
NSFW:
Skip to the good bit:
Rumors of my only having good opinions about everything that everyone should agree with have been greatly exaggerated.
But if I have offended you by being wrong about something, I apologize.
Not offended, more just dumbfounded that someone could honestly not see how that is obviously a terrible idea.
See above, re me not always having good opinions about everything.
I cannot help being severely flawed. It comes with the whole homo sapiens thing.
But good for you not having any opinions most people in a certain community you’re in disagree with. That must be very nice for you.
So what you are saying (through an incredibly thick layer of condescension) is that you know your belief is wrong. And instead of changing your belief, you would rather maintain it, knowing it is wrong. That’s just bizarre.
They also beleive you shouldn’t have a right to privacy and that your trauma does not exist

I’ve never seen them be out of pocket, just everywhere.
Fuck that guy.
Seems like he’s gotten a little better lately.
Its going to sound silly, but I can’t get past how confident he is and how quickly he posts. Noone makes good arguments with that little thought. At least thats my current theory on why he bothers me.
Who knows though maybe I’m projecting.
No, because of how they interacted on this post
https://lemmy.world/comment/10906808
Their the second person I hate on lemmy, the other one being stamets because they repsonded to me in an abrasive, rude, toxic and above others attitude
I really don’t see a problem with how they interacted. And, as a step father, I agree that it’s your job to embarrass your kids some as they grow.
I think they were much more level headed and calm than I would have been had I been at odds with so many people.
But hey, everyone is allowed their own opinions.
Be careful pointing that out on forums they moderate or they’ll ban you for “mod harassmenr.”
Power users and power mods are cancer.
I don’t see the issue?
They’re**
Fuck.
I am quite famous in my house. Pretty much everyone here knows me.
I dig it.
The user with an AI copyright notice on every one of their posts is one of my favorite “gimmicks”.
Is it just one person? I tend to not read usernames. I just find that notice amusing as the only result it will have is that some ai-generated comments will one day start to have that notice in them as well.

How many of yall read this entire thread and were disapointed or glad you didnt find your own name.
Not really because I’m not aiming to be famous on lemmy, that takes effort and I’d hate doing that
I’m just on lemmy to use it like any other social media
It might be egotistical but I was hoping I’d made a mark in Lemmy culture.
I did find my own name and am both disappointed and glad.
Pretty sure me and another Lemmy were the first two men to meet here then fuck. Highly recommend.
I congratulate you, lemming. Here’s your medal:
I’m here. You’re here. Let’s you and me be the new celebrities.
Sorry, I couldn’t vote for you. You double-space after periods!
It’s marginally easier to read, and it costs me nothing. I’ve been typing this way for forty years, and it takes me longer to try to single space after periods. Why should I change? I’m not asking anyone else to do it, but I’m not going to unlearn something that doesn’t affect anyone else.
So that’s my thing. I’m the double space after periods guy. I’ll also argue with you about State’s Rights and the Civil War, the correct pronunciation of the word “gif,” and why imperial units remain popular despite the “obvious” superiority of metric. I also have some inflammatory opinions about conservativism, but those aren’t nearly as controversial as the other ones.
My only controversial opinion is that one must always avoid “/s” indicators, as those are an instant killer of comedy. If an occasional unit of sarcasm flies over the head of another, drawing downvotes and/or unhappiness, it’s a price we must endure as a society.
As they should!
Do either one of you go on long rambling on-topic stories, only to talk about the undertaker throwing mankind off the hell in a cell in nineteen ninety eight?
Seems like a lot of effort.
