I have a brass metal stamp for leaving an inked impression on a page. Think of used for the purposes of a rubber stamp. Currently I have pigment ink and it’s very patchy and leaves out fine details. Is there any other ink I should use?

Disclaimer: I know very little about stamps and ink; feel free to disregard me. But could it be used and/or meant for wax instead of ink?

Old typeface used metal plates. The didn’t go out of favour until the early 1900’s give or take a decade or so.

There are ink pads for stamps. Also there are inks for printing presses.

The ink pads work well with the rubber stamps and presses use an ink that is meant to be transferred from a smooth metal surface.

The latter ink might be what you’re looking for, but is a bit of a specialty item.

    Search for printmaking ink online.

Many printmakers work with metal or stone plates, but I don’t know what the ink is called. Possibly lithography ink, that’s for stone.
