Possibly/Probably but as I said. Right now win 10 runs all my productivity, gaming and streaming software such as OBS and Veadotube.
They run and run well. I have literally no incentive to switch to either a Linux distro or win11. If that changes, then I’ll consider changing my OS, but until then…why would anyone?
I have no plans to either update to win11 or change back to chanting magic spells at my computer to get it to work (Ubuntu, many years ago).
My computer works and does everything I want it to. Basic internet security and reasonable precautions are sufficient for a low level user like me to stay safe.
As an older (55+) man, this has indeed been my life experience
I work at a Costco in Western Canada. Today (28th) was a little slower than slower than normal, but well inside the normal ups and downs we see. All of us are curious to see if the 1st is busier to make up for it.
Appropriate song…

Well tbh, I’m still working out how a lot of this federated thing works and this was my gateway to Lemmy after the Redditpocalypse
I was the buddy hanging on for dear life. The driver was a good friend, but a horrific driver. He almost got the title. Both times, cause they invited him back for the Worst Ever season
I was on a show called Canada’s Worst Driver. Hence my username
I’m relatively sure that the shooter will turn out to be someone who had a loved one suffer and die because they were refused health care coverage. This may turn out to be only the first of similar incidents.
As someone of Ukrainian descent I do. My grandfather fled the Holomodor to arrive in Canada in the 1920s, where he was able to put down $20 and prove out a section of land in a 5 year period to earn title to that land. That said, I am glad you used an actual news source. When I first saw that they were youtube links I was already going, “Oh boy, here we go again with a raging conspiracy theorist,” but I was pleasantly surprised that it was DW News, an outlet that plays on my smarthub, along with CBC news.
That said, you have anything newer than 2 years ago? It would be interesting to learn if there has been any progress on this.
You wanna link some of that claim?
Nah, just somebody who was lucky enough to soar with some actual sword masters over the years. I’m no Jill Bearup, but I know which end goes into the other guy.
You obviously haven’t fought anyone with a sword. And before you ask, yes I have.
Doesn’t the DPRK operate under the Juche political concept?
Serious question, are there any true communist/Marxist nations today that would be examples of your statement?
Sorry about terribad formatting, old phone is old
I grew up in a village called Cumberland that is growing in slow, moderated steps…
As someone who lived during a large chunk of the Cold War, let me add some personal perspective on this. You are absolutely right in that the Soviet Union and the West were in a war from WWII on. A spy war, an economic war and several hot proxy wars.
The US lost nearly all of those, but they did win the economic war, and in doing so broke the USSR economically and politically.
After the USSR fell, the Cold War was over. Done. Finito. To emphasize this, capitalism came pouring into all the former SSR’s and former Soviet citizens got to taste consumerism triggering chaos that took a full generation to hammer out. And then the 2010’s came along and Russia began using it’s natural resources to become more and more integrated with Europe.
To the point where some analysts were beginning to be worried that Russia might come to dominate the EU economically.
In fact, if Putin had waited another 5 years Europe would likely have become so dependant on Russian natural gas that they would literally have been unable to effectively protest any move Russia made, in fear of them turning off the tap. Russia was on the road to being THE dominant power in Europe, and Putin literally threw it ALL away chasing dreams of a renewed Russian Empire.
I debated how to reply to you for probably too long. The best reply I could think of, is the following:
