  • A lot of professors are overworked with classes and programs too. One of my girlfriends uas a professor for anatomy who teaches two full college courses before going to her massage school to teach anatomy. She says you can tell that the professor isn’t really there mentally. Sge never actually prepares for the courses she’s supposed to be teaching, but you can tell us just from exhaustion. I wonder how many are like that and just forget what coursework they’re currently preparing for others.

  • Out of curiosity, what businesses are you getting these straws from? The few times I got a paper straw I didn’t really notice an issue other than the texture on my lips. I wonder if those companies are just skipping on the quality. The good paper straws probably cost more than the plastic ones right now and I’d bet their trying to meet the same margins, or tighter.

  • The instructions may recommend preheating, but with the two air fryers that I’ve had in my life, for both of them I found myself taking off last minute or two because it tends to overcook. Doesn’t matter if it’s anecdotal, directions are words on paper and they can’t understand the reality of the rules they set.

The people who write directions aren’t thinking of use, they’re thinking of legal consequences. Any company that makes an air fryer would rather have you burn your food than eat it undercooked.

  • My employer uses Cigna and with them it’s $1,300. They keep asking what my pain level is and I keep telling them none. When I explain to them why I’m not getting the surgery yet they seemed absolutely baffled for some reason. They tried to get me to sign up for a medical credit card offering zero APR. I told them does zero APR mean also $0 a month, because that’s about how much I can afford. And again they acted like not moving mountains and stirring the oceans was a me thing. Absolutely fucking wild.

  • I’m happy to say that I emphatically want better wages for service industry workers. IDC how much food goes up, or how many mega franchises have to close for it. Either better wages, or cause these these super franchises to close so mom and pops and open instead.

I also don’t think it’s unrealistic to expect businesses to give up a small portion of their infinite growth targets to actually cover their employees needs. Maybe a large departure from the past 50 years, but it’s absolutely something most of them can afford.

If a business genuinely can’t afford it, then I’d also be okay with my tax money going towards a business analysis for that owner to find a way to make it work. If they still can’t, then how long were they really going to be open anyway and what were they really adding to their community?

  • If the typical cop can’t be expected to uphold their duty to protect and serve then they don’t need to be a cop. I do not care if American courts have suddenly decided that the oath and slogan used my police for decades is not binding.

They don’t need bigger or better weapons, they need brains. They had access to cameras in the building. They knew and could have tracked the gunman using those. Set up around two corners near them, team 1 supresses to distract then team two takes out the gunman. Deploying the national guard would take too long, and not all cities have a swat team.

If “typical” cops aren’t expected to risk their safety, then I expect them to take a “typical” paycut. Actually maybe that’s what should happen. Separate real police and law enforcement. Real police get firearms and responsibilities, law enforcement can worry about tickets and fines.
