It’s not waste. It’s theft. From the point of view of the people doing the administrating, the money they’re taking out is a goal, not a wastefulness.
It’s the exact same thing the music industry does to artists, or the “defense” industry does to the taxpayers. It looks wasteful if you think of it as trying to accomplish some goal other than enriching the people doing it, but that is exactly the goal, so it’s working perfectly.
The DOJ has long struggled to balance press freedom with safeguarding national security.
National security is well served by keeping firmly in check the people employed to run the country, entrusted with its power.
The people who view those public employees as “the nation,” and think that they need to be protected against the people, who are not “the nation,” are always up to some fuckery. Always. “The nation” is the people. Its security is well served by keeping the government in check.
The only thing this guy had to do, apparently, was to scrub his personal possessions and electronics, not say a word to his friends, and then when the cops ran him through Clearview and found him, say he’s invoking his right to a lawyer and has nothing to say. And leave his cell phone at home, but presumably he did that. If all they had was the photo, then whatever. People look like other people sometimes.
He still had his ghost gun, and the motherfucker was carrying his manifesto on his person, when they picked him up. He shouldn’t have even been going to the damn McDonald’s. Just get DoorDash for a while and stay in the house until you’re not on the news anymore.
There is no guarantee that they’re telling the truth about how they picked him up and all, but it sounds like the kid was sloppy, which is a damn shame.
I am trying to help you understand how to not get your comments removed, and also to have more productive interactions online.
If you’re not interested, then fine. I can tell you the information, but I can’t make you absorb it. I’m not interested in being drawn into an extensive and pointless debate about what some other person wrote in their report field and why.
Pretty every other comment here is, more or less, agreeing with you that the IC consensus was right, it probably wasn’t a foreign adversary, congress doesn’t know what it’s talking about, and the evidence is that this report and this story is a bunch of crap.
Yours was the only comment that was shouty, condescending, and insulting, in addition to saying that the report is wrong. You were not censored for your content.
That’s one theory, but also, remember that Eric Adams is kind of a moron.
One of the few explanations that makes sense to me is that the cops have identified him but aren’t saying anything so as not to tip him off, and Adams decided to make the announcement anyway, because him being the one to break the news is good for his career. And then figured with impeccable moron logic that as long as he doesn’t use the guy’s name, the guy will be none the wiser.
One of the hallmarks of a kleptocracy is that almost everyone is pretty bad at their job because no one cares. Remember when FSB agents bought copies of “The Sims,” instead of sim cards, to use to frame people as agents of Ukraine?
Now you’ve done it lol
Yeah, I thought about that after I said it. It would stand to reason if his sociopathy in business also corresponded with some sociopathy in his personal life and people around him had experience with it.
I think what I meant is pretty self-evident. Read it again, and lose the knee-jerk reaction where you assume that I was saying, “Oh, won’t anyone think of his family!” I was just saying it was a mindfuck.
Probably, if the head of the cartel got shot, his family would be shattered but they wouldn’t think it was shocking to hear everyone cheering for it. This guy lives in a world where he thinks he’s doing everything he’s supposed to be doing. He and his family probably thought he was really doing good, and everyone else should be getting on his level. Maybe not. I have no idea. It was just a mindfuck for me thinking about it.
I like that even the doctors and professionals they found to interview for the story went out of their way to point out that yes, of course violence isn’t a good thing and this probably isn’t the way, but he’s been hurting people left and right, and they see it every day, and they’re glad he’s dead, and so is everyone they know.
That is astonishing. Imagine being this guy’s grieving family, and finding out that 9 out of ten people are going out of their way to let everyone know they’re glad he’s dead.
Probably, in their minds, he wasn’t doing anything wrong. I’m not trying to defend him, since he clearly was doing something wrong, and the world is almost certainly a better place without him in it. But holy shit. Even when Nixon died, a lot of people tried to come up with nice things to say about him.
UnitedHealth Group’s Facebook post sharing its statement on Thompson’s death received more than 46,000 reactions, with about 41,000 of respondents clicking the platform’s “haha” option displaying a laughing emoji.
Holy shit.
Looks to me like it’s in the “main” branch but not in 0.19.7. Maybe the release branch was forked before it went in? Maybe there’s active development on a 0.20-targeted line, with some fixes getting backported to 0.19 as they’re needed? I don’t know. But I think it’s in the development branch, but hasn’t made it to production quite yet.
$ git checkout main
Switched to branch 'main'
Your branch is up to date with 'origin/main'.
$ grep 'Rewrite markdown' api_tests/src/post.spec.ts

Looks like it’s brand new. The fix was only committed in September, and maybe not even on the main branch? I’m not completely sure, but it looks like it’s coming, as opposed to something that’s already here.
Having just had someone I care about go through the American health care system, I get it.
My person went through months of agony and will never be completely the same, for absolutely no reason other than the system trying to squeeze a little more money out.
I would never do this kind of thing. I don’t think it’s the way. But I get it. More than once I fantasized about burning down the head offices of the insurance company. I just don’t think you can kill and hurt vulnerable people at massive scale for profit with your smug little grin, and expect people to ignore it forever, only because there’s a set of traditions right now that makes it all legal.
Postwar?
What are they expecting is going to be left?
I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that Israel shows every intention to keep going until every meter is razed and every Gazan is dead. They’ve had the peace option for over a year now. They’re not interested.
I say, I see your facts and I was wrong.
Okay, that’s the first time you’ve said that.
You have created in your mind a fantasy image of me.
Maybe so. I and some other people in the comments tried to talk with you about this, asking you questions or making counterarguments, and until this most recent message, I didn’t see anything that looked like engagement from your end. That’s a hallmark of some of the political misinformation accounts, so whether or not you’re one of them, I think directly saying “That’s a good point” or answering direct questions people are putting to you in order to make some kind of point would be a good thing to add to your online behaviors.
In the big picture of life I frankly don’t give a fuck about X or any other social media platform. I’m too busy enjoying my life.
We are all internet weirdos here, I’m comfortable with that. As long as we’re going to be weirdos I think it is okay to ask that people engage productively even when they disagree.
What?
