  • I had been on reddit for well over a decade. Joined because I miss message boards that died when Facebook became a thing. I spent almost 15 years on different message boards for different interests and just wanted that feeling of community back.

And it was fine, until americans decided to go full blown nazi. Now there is nothing but americans shitting on every minority they can get away with and reddit mods do fuck all about it.

Not everyone online is american and the rest of us are fucking done with their bullshit. The internet is a global community not a recruiting platform for nazis.

Two of my best friends growing up were Scottish and their parents spoke with super thick Scottish accents. Made understanding Trainspotting and reading Irvine Welsh so much easier.

Some of my fondest memories were in my early 20s, their dad would make me a drink and after a few my Irish/English ass would start talking with a Scottish accent. They’d all get a huge kick out of it. To this day even though I grew up with a dad with a heavy Irish accent I still can’t do a proper accent unless I’ve had a few, then I can’t stop it. 😅

  • Personal experience.

From personal experience about 80% of the harassment I recieve is from straight white american males, not kids either, many times they’re middle aged. There are some females in the mix, rarely people of colour but there have been a few.

If I were to guess I would imagine it’s because women and people of colour also belong to vulnerable communities and run the risk of attracting the wrong type of attention and becoming targets themselves.

Not every white american male is a troll or violent obviously but since 2015 the ones who are continue to become active threats.

Honestly I see them almost as victims themselves. No troll, stalker, mass shooter, etc started out that way. They became radicalized online by getting wrapped up in online activities they were not emotionally nor intellectually equipped to handle.

An example is the Christchurch massacre https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christchurch_mosque_shootings

He didn’t start out as a mass murderer, he was radicalized online in places like 8chan. He even posted on 8chan that they needed to keep an eye on Christchurch because something big was going to happen.

It’s not just americans and it’s not just white males but so many get caught up in the culture of trolling that there are going to be those who become fundamentally damaged by the continued activity to the point that they take it too far and sometimes that leads to things like mass shootings, or swatting, stalking or other criminal behaviour.

  • The last time they mentioned his age it was 38/39. They keep changing it but keeping him and Marge in their 30s.

Honestly I wish they would age everyone up a year every decade. If they had done that we would be seeing the antics of a 13 year old Bart now and I think that could start with some really interesting character development instead of keeping him forever a 10 year old.

  • If a child is born with a cleft lip would you repair it or tell them that’s the way god made them and they have to live with it?

If a child is neurodivergent and has severe gender dysphoria becasue of it do you force them to remain unhappy and uncomfortable or do you help them make adjustments to make them more comfortable?

If you can’t “fix” the issue isn’t the next best step accommodating for it? If someone is paralyzed and the spine can’t be repaired do you leave them in bed or give them a wheelchair? If I person is deaf do you just leave them in silence or give them hearing aids and/or teach them to sign?

Being trans is very often like being gay, it’s hardwired into the brain, just like being left handed. If it’s just the way a person’s brain is wired isn’t it better to relieve discomfort by adjusting the physical to match the mental if the mental can’t be adjusted to match the physical?

There will be kids who are experimenting with their gender identity and decide that they’re most comfortable as their birth gender and that’s great, any form of self discovery is awesome but there will always be people who are gender dysphoric and the most successful way of alleviating that dysphoria is to transition.

Years and years of therapy come before any form a medical transition for kids and often transition simply means a preferred name change, change of clothes and gender affirming hair style. If a child is comfortable with just those changes then medical transition isn’t necessary. If however they, after therapy and non medical gender affirming care still feel uncomfortable puberty blockers can be used to pause puberty until the child is older. Once they’re older they can decide whether or not transition is the right choice for them.

No one should go into transition without therapy first but gender dysphoria is so uncomfortable. It’s like walking around in shoes that are 3 sizes too big or too small your entire life. You can get by, but it’s painful.
