Fun fact: Piracy is still supporting the film industry. We see movies, talk about it, free publicy, reviews etc.

Apparently in the industry they consider the value of a pirated movie about 1/4 that of a paid one.

Some programs etc would pretty much die without piracy like the Adobe suite

Can confirm, work in the industry - we don’t care. The only reason there’s anti-piracy stuff out there is because the FBI pressured studios in the 90s to help stop brown people from bootlegging VHSs then later DVDs.

Hell I straight up told Amazon I’m watching a series without ads and without paying the upgrade while filling my complaint. Explained it took me less time to get than it took to wait on customer service to complain to. Explained why Napster was a thing.

I know they don’t care but you know.

They gotta try their advice on themselves, “try to pull yourself up by the bootstraps and maybe it’ll trickle down”

Did anyone else get the line “Born white in the world’s richest countree-ee” in their heads there, or is that a way too obscure Jello Biafra reference?

From what I’ve seen and spoken to the younger generation in my comp sci classes. None of them pirate. It’s too much work for them and they’re into that instant gratification. They thought I was an animal for pirating media… so I don’t know what they’re talking about
