Legality is not an issue here. We are not exactly respecting copyright law anyway.
Not that I’d want to respect it for companies like Rockstar. They rigged a good game to turn it into a cash cow.

Source code of re3/reVC is just a source code for GTA3/VC.
Re 3 ? What happened ?
Project(s) to run GTA3/ViceCity on modern systems. Entirely reverse engineered and “legal”, but Rockstar got their GitHub’s taken down.
