• Hiromi Uehara (and the Trio Project)
• Takuya Kuroda
• Sinsuke Fujieda Group

Also, UK too, check out the Ezra Collective.

Plenty of modern jazz out there, it’s just not mainstream anymore.

Edit - forgot about Ibrahim Maalouf. Dude is incredible on the trumpet. Between him and Kuroda, trumpet jazz is alive and well.
