If you could make a movie that stays true to the idea of Star Trek while still maintaining broad enough appeal to reach a wider audience, sure.
I believe, to this day, that still has yet to be done. Without the broad appeal it’s better to just do the show, and without the ideals of Star Trek… it’s just another generic sci-fi action movie.
I mean, at this point I’m willing to give Ben Stiller the benefit of the doubt on all sorts of things.
I don’t think he needs the benefit of the doubt on “reach a broad audience” in the first place, because… well, it’s Ben Stiller. I mean on the Star Trek ideals thing.
IDK, Ben Stiller made Severance, which is pretty thoughtful, philosophical sci-fi. He’s got the chops and the interest in making something, the idea leaves me cautiously optimistic.
