It works perfectly fine on both my Windows and Linux systems. It’s so much better than any alternative out there that I would say it’d be more worthwhile to debug your issue than try a lacking alternative.

Uninstalling software doesn’t always completely remove everything related to the application, in fact it’s pretty common for settings/config files to be left behind, so you gotta check both the installation folder and your user folder if you want to completely restart fresh.

If that doesn’t help, OBS’ logs are easily accessible from its Help menu. Those should give you more insight.

If you really really wanna give up on by far the best streaming and recording software, AMD and NVIDIA have those features in the application that they ship with their drivers, but they’re extremely basic compared to OBS EDIT: this is only available in Windows AFAIK

Are you perhaps using the snap? It’s known to be shit and is unsupported. The official way to install OBS on Linux is with flatpak. It includes several plugins.

The set up for me was fine, finding tutorials on recording (not streaming) and finding/using bgs etc not so much.

Obs does this perfectly, and is foss. Just don’t use snap. If you need to, compile yourself, but avoid snap. It does not work.

Didn’t realize until it was mention from another comment that when you uninstall the program, you need to also delete the files. Did that reinstall and started fresh.

No, but that game sounds brilliant! How can I find it?

My avatar is after Moss from The IT Crowd, which is a British comedy from 2006 (highly recommend). My name, Maurice, is the same as the character’s, and my mates started calling me Moss due to our shared quirkiness and such (though, Richard Ayoade pulls it off much better than I lol), and it just stuck.
