Countries with free housing for homeless people, and programs to help them quit doing drugs and get an income, have way less homeless people.
Elon could end all homelessness with what to him is pocket change if he wanted to. The fact that he, or any of these disgusting parasites choose not to, means they’re literal monsters.

His premise is also false. At least half of homeless people in the US are employed.

It’s not a drug user problem. It’s an affordable housing problem.

The reason why only a minority of the homeless are drug addicts is a practical one—Drugs Are Really Expensive. Housed people are more likely to do drugs because they can afford to.

nah, its a bit naive to think he tells this lie to himself. thats because he doesnt care about the homeless, and probably thinks they should get fucked anyway.

he tells it so his supporters feel better about it. he tells it to US. this is a mask.

I’ve seen this a few times, and it’s not even that generous. He doesn’t need to feel ok about it to sleep, he LOVES it. He likes suffering, feels justified in his elitism.

He’s not telling the lie so he can sleep at night, he at best doesn’t care and at worst is straight up evil.

He tells the lie so that idiots who are already prejudiced can point to the “evidence” any time anyone tries to get them to have a shred of compassion for people less fortunate than them.

Homeless are just lazy. They really should learn to do proper business tricks. When Elon needed lithium he couped Bolivia. So when homeless need housing…

It’s a lie because more accurately it would be “housing-deprived”. We have ample empty dwelling but billionaires like Musk have purposely held them away from people because they are more valuable as places to hold money than as places for people to live.

That and also the US is purposely being denied proper healthcare supports by the same wealthy elite that Musk is part of.

US denies proper healthcare because they want us to be dependant on the companies to provide us with that. If you lose your job, you lose access to healthcare. You are dependant on the corporate overlords for your subsistence and health

There is a severe lack of long term care facilities for the mentally ill. We just closed them down one day and threw the insane on the street. That’s a huge part of the visible problem for sure. Not to say there aren’t countless “homeless by circumstance” people that need housing. The “homeless by choice” is definitely a problem also.

"We just closed them down one day and threw the insane on the street. "

On the street or in jail over what would otherwise be trivial legal violations. -like sleeping in public.

Even if he’s right, all the more reason to get them set up off the streets in SOME SORT of reasonable living arrangement. One that’s not prison, anyways.

Both are wrong. It would take much much more money, and the “vocal minority”, the more visible homeless, are definitely unwell. That doesn’t mean there’s many times more normal people living on the street in need of help. Hasn’t California alone spent over $20 billion trying to cure homelessness and they’re kind of top of the heap thanks to their climate being conducive to outdoor living.

Yes, the idea that a lump sum payment of any kind could ever permanently erase any condition such as homelessness or hunger is ridiculous, because unless the people involved are somehow rehabilitated and returned to the workforce, there will definitely be ongoing costs.

Correct. These talking points are ridiculous and they only prove that Musk lives rent-free in these people’s heads.
