This and cutting funding to EI-ISAC is basically an invitation for Russia to hack the next election.

that’s how “blue states will disappear”.

any blue state with elections coming up should vet observers/security now and move to paper ballots only.

And the funny thing is, when Putin will come to the White House, which will eventually happen, he will not speak a word of English, thank Trump for his commitment to a free northern hemisphere and make some veiled insults in Russian which Trump will not understand, nor will anybody have the guts to translate them to him. He will just stand there and smile while Putin takes the White House as one of his outposts.

Cyber deterrence isn’t optional—halting operations signals weakness to adversaries. Well sourced and detailed analysis, though it doesn’t fully address potential counterarguments or alternative perspectives on the strategy.

So it’s only barely March and Trump is already basically bent over on the front steps of the Kremlin with his butt cheeks spread, shouting, “Take me daddy!”

I expected him to bend over for Putin, but even cynical as I am, I didn’t expect him to do it so completely so quickly.

What’s the downside? They’re in power. And despite all the collateral damage, Republicans are still protecting him from oversight. He basically has most of the functional powers of a dictator, with only some resistance (currently) from the judiciary. Also, he openly talked about illegally staying in power for a third term, and has refused demands from the courts. I hope I’m wrong, but we’re witnessing him and his sycophants consolidate power to never be held accountable again…

It matters, but you’re right. The system is broken to allow him to do what he wishes with no consequences legally. The ones in power who could do anything, if there’s anything left, are complacent for whatever their reasons. The public can’t do anything legally, and many voted for this anyway. So what’s left? Rhetorical, we know what’s left, it’s happened in history before. Is there enough to drive people to some form of action?

“All experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.”

It’s still true, and I don’t think we’re at a point where people feel like they’re in a corner yet. At least not most people, and not the ones who can still act - which are probably limited since so many are in a place where doing anything much will destroy their lives. But again to the quote, we’re been there before, and people finally make that choice.

My bet is he bans gun and ammo sales. Probably in 2027 when he announces his third term. But, it’s probably a safe bet to start sooner than later.

I’d like to see more “lefty gun owner” resources. Like a YouTube channel where some hipster or drag queen reviews guns without wearing camo or talking about the second amendment.

How do you feel about the Ruger LCP 380 Auto (ACP)? I need a super compact CC for Nazi defense. I know it doesn’t pack the 9mm punch, but for $220, that’s a bargain, wouldn’t you say?

Glad to see the dude with Alcohol withdrawal and rapes women. Wants to stop defending this nation from one of its biggest enemies. He should do a /4hr stream to show the troops he’s not a drug addict that relies on his drug to not go through withdrawals. Show us Pete. You fucking pos rapist. I lived in Monterey when that shit went down. Wish I knew. I would have dragged his ass to the beach to teach him not to rape women.

So this is the first story I read about this that specified “offensive”. Yes it’s risky, but I don’t see how we can be outraged at other states hacking into us when we are doing it to them, and doing it first. We have to stop escalating, and yes, nation states may exploit de-escalation. Perhaps if we could and will focus on defensive cybersec consistently, others may consider it.

That makes sense only if it’d apply to every nation, not just Russia. Us selecting only them for a reprieve shows favoritism.

And will never happen with a competent administration. You have to know what they are doing on their end in order to defend on our end.

Donald Trump is pausing it because that’s what Putin wants and with Trump and Maga wanting to forever remain in power it would make Putin’s job a lot easier to rig our elections to keep his American cronies in power. Putin runs the U. S. There is no doubt but our current administration must have at least a small shred of denial in case this goes south before MAGA can eliminate the constitution and the constraints it puts on the government.

It’s cute that you think Trump is doing it for any reason other than his and his Russian bosses own ambition.

People in this thread acting like it’s OK for the US to try and hack the Kremlin, and that it isn’t escalatory behavior. At all. Lol.
