In this case I’m not upset. How many deaths, bankruptcies, and lives ruined are these ghouls responsible for? Save your outrage for them. Just because their crimes are less dramatic doesn’t make them less meaningful

If they catch this guy he will never see trial. No way they’d risk him getting up on the stand, and even less likely they’d want to try their luck getting twelve people to convict. He’ll go down in a hail of gunfire or get Epstein’d

My original comment was too glib so here’s the truth. So long as the right is viciously opposed to democratic norms, consensus based governance, and the rule of law when it suits their needs, we don’t have the luxury of purity tests. Judges aren’t non-partisan. Nothing is non-partisan.

I refuse to be happy about the democrats doing so little that we’re stuck relying on
ancient judges appointed by centrists clinging to life and their career long enough that maybe the next democratic administration will get around to actually appointing leftist judges. It’s better than Trump’s appointments would be but not nearly good enough.

Both the majority party (which is the party of the president) and the opposition party are saying this is unconstitutional. So hopefully they have some actions they can take to curtail it.

In addition to allowing Google to manage the authentication process, signing in with Google allows Google to track your visits. In some cases they get additional data about content you view.

In many cases the mere presence of that button allows Google to track that your device visited the Udemy sign in/sign up page, even if you don’t click it. Google uses this to create and update a profile of you they sell for advertising and other purposes, and exposes you to more risk if your Google account is breached. With a password manager I find using SSO to be about the same level of effort as using my manager’s autofill functionality

Don’t worry this post was written by a first year computer science student who just learned about C. No need to look too closely at it.

It doesn’t matter, that’s not the point. The point is precisely that it’s not part of the government. It’s the manifestation of the sort of private capture that has made Musk so rich. They are explicitly taking a governmental responsibility - managing the budget - and moving it out of the government. Away from oversight, away from regulation, with unclear (and therefore definable by them) power and authority, free from any obligation to actually DO anything.

The obvious racism of this aside this is a direct consequence of data brokers and surveillance capitalism making it trivial and cheap to send out texts to minority women in Detroit. That’s an insane thing. Someone probably paid a pittance for these targeted texts.

Does this imply that if I am standing on an object moving at a constant speed in a straight line, and I am lifting and dropping a sufficiently massive object such that I’m causing the object in standing on to accelerate towards the object I’m dropping, that eventually I’ll slow or stop the object I’m standing on?
