I managed to check the output of that command and switch back to nouveau before it froze this time. The mouse is still operable but you can see the artifacting I’ve been getting. It looks like I am on x11 as my three options at start are Cinnamon (Default), Cinnamon (Software Rendering), and Cinnamon on Wayland (Experimental). I am about to try Wayland just to see.
I haven’t checked the thermal paste, I think I have some lying around. I have periodically been checking the temperature at 2 second intervals in the terminal off to the side and it seems to freeze up regardless of what temp it was at. I will open up and replace it because it couldn’t hurt. I will update if that helps.
I’ll have some time in the morning to mess with it and I will post those results.
I just went in and checked and it looks like it is already off. Out of curiosity, I tried turning on profile one (froze at login, which is what happened after the most recent reboot) and two (froze on black screen before login).
I had some time and updated my bios, then switched over to the 550 driver from the driver manager and upon restart I had the phantom monitor issue which seems to have been fixed by following this post. its only been a few minutes and I haven’t done anything with it yet, so I will update if any more issues come up but I’m feeling hopeful.
Edit: literally the second after posting this reply I got a freeze trying to open steam…

Here are some of my favorites in no particular order from no particular genre that aren’t generally well known as far as I am aware. I hope you enjoy some of them!
Counterstrike and Tarkov because I’m too bad at them to have any fun playing myself, but I really enjoy watching competitive matches or streamers raids here and there.
Also, Dark Souls 1-3 and Skyrim. I’ve played them all so much and still play through here and there, but I like to watch challenge runs and see all the modded or otherwise ridiculous playthroughs that I don’t have the patience to commit to myself.
Well that really could be it. My power supply is the only part in my PC that’s still original other than the cd drive. I’ll dig around and see if I can find a way to check it before spending the money on a new one.
I will try that next time it boots. It’s been alternating between freezing at that same spot and waiting a minute or two now.
I’m not opposed to trying different distro’s, but right now I am hoping to avoid doing a fresh install so that I can keep everything set up the way I like it at least for the time being.
That might be the way to go, but right now I’m more worried about getting my system to boot at all again. Is Runelite for RS3 or just OSRS?
Secure boot was already disabled, so I’m guessing it might be something else.
I have been trying to work through this option, I went though the whole installation again and never ran into this option. Unfortunately nvidia-xconfig does nothing. I’m not quite sure where I went wrong with this and it seems like all of the help I could find is assuming I have done/already know something I haven’t/don’t.
I ran it with the log, set to Proton GE. My graphics card is an nvidia gtx 1080 ti. Unfortunately, the log wasn’t much help to look at for me.
Lilacs. They smell just like shit to me. I grew up near a house that had a huge section of them and had to walk by them frequently.
Its also not true in the US. At least not anywhere I’ve lived or traveled to.
