If there’s a ‘Good Place’, then there’s one rule of ten that ALMOST EVERYONE ignores. Kings, popes, game hunters and every ‘Christian soldier’ pretends it’s complicated. It’s a very simple rule, with 4 words using only 16 letters. A 5-year-old can understand it. There’s no escape clause. Ignore it and you’ll not get there.

I’ll admit to mostly checking into Bluesky for a month in January. The user count is much higher but the quality-post count lower … unless you’re into phographs of cats and mushrooms, product-promoters, and political opinions. Forget any quality posts - a 300-character limit (but unlimited photo sizes) and 60-second audio/video limit encourage superficial sheepiality.

Not a desert, but next to one, and the water prices are higher. Probably 1000 lurkers for every liker, let alone comments … unless you’re an ‘name’ into self-promotion. Some names deliver inside info you’ll not see here.

Lemme delivers as much quality as bsky does. But you have to scroll thru more crap there.

If anything, it’s quantum that has been poorly treated by generations of explaining-away. The world of the tiny must be predicted with probabilities because there is no way for us to observe it directly. It’s not rolling dice … we -have- to.

While trying out models of what it’s doing boggles our minds, our limitations mean we cannot decide whether it’s really deterministic. Reality isn’t limited that way. (Einstein was right.)

When I was a young teem, a teacher put a slice of apple in a sealed container with a few fruit-flies. A week later, there were hundreds of fruit-flies. In another week the bottom of the container was covered with the bodies of fruit-flies. Quick, unforgettable lesson.

That’s one of the first problems I need solved, so thanks for asking. I used to use pulseEffects to get one place to go for system-wide volume, EQ & compression settings, and want that back.

One of the problems it had was that many FX wouldn’t work without having to install a set of non-default libraries, and the available docs weren’t too clear on that. Will be visiting Ee docs.

Sleep more. Bathe less. Think of your future self not damning you for over-doing physical stuff. Eat a little more of that sweet crap you’re not supposed to. Smile at judgers, not a word, it drives them bats. Avoid credit. Enjoy all those little critters more. Take a longer look at Zen.

So far as I’ve heard, none of them ever escaped that distant past.

Walking downtown to the movie theatre (back when they were cheap and they didn’t arrest parents for letting kids do that) to see first-run science-fiction features on a Saturday holding a bag of popcorn… and getting my money’s worth … and still enjoying them decades later after nuking my own popcorn …

All that typing doesn’t amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world. Someday you’ll understand that.

The Europeans have had -many- centuries longer to screw -everything- up in -every way- and then, eventually, regret it. A bit. So, like most of us humans, who learn most lessons the hard way, they have finally settled on something they can live with … and they call it civilization. With pride.

Amongst those living there who don’t know all of that history - like most humans - they assume that things got that way reasonably. And brag about it as if it was true.

Unlike the middle East - which has had -millenia- longer to learn - and which was, is, and it seems always will be, screwing everything up in every way. While they all point their fingers elsewhere. And build very large monuments to survive them.
