They’ll wait a couple years, bribe Trump’s admin and then have it pass then
Not their only friend there’s Iran which is not wholly within China’s sphere of influence. It could be Putin distancing himself from China with the current tensions between the US. Trump is a wildcard when it comes to foreign policy and seems to only be motivated with how much he can enrich himself or feed his ego. Which a war with China can definitely do both.
Why does the quality of my health care and my quality of life have to depend on who I work for and what insurance companies they choose to work with?
Because Nixon was in bed with big business, then Ford fumbled the gas crisis, and finally Carter naively trusted Congress to transition from employee mandates to single payer.

Also to note, Putin is feeling his oats if you look at the weirdly specific tarrif against China.

Thanks for the measured and thoughtful reaponse.
I don’t treat the Fermi Paradox or Great Filter as scientific fact and more like a philosophical representation of human nature applied to the universe at large.
I absolutely agree that life is very rare. I also agree that we have no frame of reference to the vastness of space. However, human nature, on the scale of the Earth, is trending towards self immolation due to systemic powers that can be treated as a constant.
I’ll post the below for anyone interested in an honest discussion or in need of the resources.

I carry that same want, however I do not carry your same hope.
I believe that self destruction is the great filter.

The whole picture is it was a no knock warrant, officers shot first.
Why are your thumbs so mad? Is it because they have to type out so many half truths?
Hey! You there! You’re pointing out smoking causes lung cancer, go learn to be a oncologist and cure people. I’m gonna sit here and hand out cigarettes.
That’s what you sound like
Exactly! The Earth will be around long after we and all evidence of us is fossilized.
No, you’re still talking about horse race politics and the national binary. What I’m talking about are city councils, mayors, sheriffs, judges. The prevailing political parties don’t apply at this level.
National politics are already a sunk cost with the amount of dark money going into them.
What’s so funny about people like you are that you have a binary lens in which to view the world. And since all is already lost what’s the use in trying.
Gore lost to Bush in Bush’s Brother’s state in a complicated legal battle and a spurious under count. Nader didn’t factor into it, that’s how unimportant these third party candidates are on the national level.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bush_v._Gore
So again to belabor my point. National elections are a distraction. Vote for candidates that align with your views on the local level. Vote for who you think will do the the least harm at the national level and watch as the candidates you want filter up through the political process.
Oh. I’m absolutely on the spectrum. It’s such a part of my life I didn’t even think to bring it up.
I’m often told I lack human traits in my face to face communication with others
Fuck you Nader.
Support and fund local politicians and help already forming political groups. National level politics are a distraction. The GOP already won doing exactly this with the Tea Party.
Nader, Jill Stein, Jimmy Dore don’t care about the American people they care about holding National office and effecting top down federal change.
The very people Nader criticizes here have pushed to make it more difficult to make an educated vote today than in the 1930’s. Billionaires know they must kill low level democratic movements and that starts with defunding schools, twisting the narrative in the media and getting anti government politicians in city councils, on local judicial benches, and as state representatives. That is the silent violence and for all of his bluster I never see Nader taking about this.
That’s the best case scenario. A more likely response would be to realize that humans need the earth, but AGI needs humans for a short while, and the earth doesn’t need humans at all
