5·4 days agoI own plenty of Libreboot computers without Intel Management Engine (2006-2009 era). For the average user in today’s world, I don’t see many people using them unless definitive proof came out that the government uses the IME to spy on them. These 2006-2009 era desktops/laptops can have the entire IME firmware removed, along with a 100% free BIOS. I collect as many as I can.
I work at a laundry place that has atleast over 50+ Spanish women. It’s 90% women and 10% men, I am literally in heaven everyday here.

One of the main reasons I’m learning Spanish is so I can talk to the Spanish girl at work, lol. However, I’ve already tried before with another girl who only speaks Spanish, and I honestly didn’t like the fact that we couldn’t communicate much. It was my fault because I didn’t know anything except “Hola” and very basic terms.
Google Translate relationships can be pretty frustrating. I’m wondering if I could reach a good level if I dedicated a full month to studying. So far, I’m doing one hour a day. Maybe this girl at work wouldn’t mind teaching me along the way if we get into a relationship?
People made fun of me every day at work, including my manager. I literally did nothing; it was just straight-up bullying day in and day out. I had to endure that for about a year until I finally received unemployment because they shut down. When you have a 27-year-old man-child wannabe gangster bullying an 18-year-old, he somehow sees himself as tough. He’s one of those “I work harder than everyone else” and “nothing applies to me” types. It was just awful.
This was a regular coworker, not my manager, but this coworker would even bully the manager, yet they would still cater to him day in and day out. I ended up getting really upset one day, because I found out my mother had a brain tumor, and he pointed his finger and laughed at me because I was crying after not being able to take their shit anymore. Didn’t go to HR and I fucking regret it.

I work in IT, and we recently hired a new “Engineer” at my company. I noticed on the form that he claimed to have extensive knowledge of Python, so I decided to meet him. The first question I asked was what IDE he uses, and he replied, “Anaconda.” Before I knew it, he was referring to the entire computer as a “CPU” and struggled to solve simple issues on Windows. To top it off, he makes 30% more than I do.
(I work as a Level 1 Service Technician, and my boss is aware that I have experience with coreboot and GNU/Linux. I just got approval to bring my own setup with it installed. Although we work in a Windows environment, I can make it work.
I also funded and helped test a bunch of hardware for coreboot, with guidance from friends I have who are experienced in the field. However, I only make $55k per year, I’m hoping I can get a nice raise. It’s just my boss and I as the two IT guys, so maybe there is potential.)
Bruh I literally forgot how to play this game, I already have Space Age, but I just don’t have the time to play it that much :(
I was doing good a couple months back, had an awesome base, then it got absolutely fucked by a horde of spider crickets or whatever you call them.
Spider crickets are the fucking worst.
Oh, I’ve already been doing this putting “Read Receipt” on emails and also checking confirmation of delivery. I forward any critical emails to my personal email just in case he deletes it. He would definitely throw me under the bus if he wanted to. Thank you for the advice though!

I own a Dell T1650 and Dell Optiplex 9020, and yes you are correct about them making everything proprietary, but the motherboard can still be used as long as you have the adapters for it. You will need to DIY, or buy a custom cable from a vendor that makes them for the motherboard. I use a Dell Optiplex 9020 MT motherboard in my NZXT case, I use a EVGA 700BR, a custom 24 pin to 8 pin connector, and a molex to fan adapter cable for my other fans, and everything works great! Also, I added Libreboot support for it as well :D

If you’re interested, the Dell T1650 is currently supported by Libreboot. I use it for everything; it has a Xeon E3 1275 V2, 32GB DDR3L ECC RAM, NVIDIA 2080 SUPER, 2x4TB HDD (RAID 1), 1TB NVMe M.2 (PCIe x4 adapter needed), and a 700W PSU (EVGA 700BR). It handles all my games, and I use Proxmox VE as my host, allowing me to create virtual machines where I can passthrough my GPU and use anything proprietary in the VM. Even the GPU drivers can be passed through (no need to install on the host), so essentially, I’m running 100% free software on my host.
Obviously, nothing can be 100% FOSS in the hardware (proprietary ECs, proprietary CPU microcode, proprietary storage firmware, etc.), BUT you can free the BIOS. There is currently a blob needed for the PCIe x16 slot, but it can be reverse-engineered in the future – not sure if there is anything else; I’ll have to ask. There is one board coming soon that I know can be made blobless in the BIOS, and that is the Dell Optiplex 9020 MT. It’s a Haswell board capable of using an i7 4790K with AVX2 instructions. I’m actually the first person to use this board, as I’m the one who made the port along with some help from the Libreboot team. The board is currently in its testing phase still, but soon in the next couple weeks we will make it freely availble.
This is super cheap hardware; you can find the whole PC on eBay for like $50-$60, or you can just buy the motherboard for like $15-$25. I bought only the motherboard because I’m using it in my gaming computer case. Also, you don’t even need any fancy flashing equipment, all you need is a insulated screwdriver to short one of the SERVICE_MODE pins on the motherboard to unlock the BIOS chip, which then allows you to flash Libreboot through your OS. Libreboot is more secure than any non-free BIOS/UEFI. At least with Libreboot, you can have transparency, and you get new updates with better features coming out.
For example, Libreboot supported Argon2 encryption in GRUB for fully encrypting your storage drive. This allows you to encrypt the /boot partition and fully encrypt your disk with ease when installing a fresh operating system. Also, you can run Windows on the host with Libreboot, it is supported but not officially. I highly recommend Libreboot, as you can tell.
Fighting tryanny with tryanny isn’t the answer.
