That’s a nice keyboard, I personally can’t stand the “gamer aesthetic” so it looks good to me. I used to use a Cherry keyboard which looked like one of those large beige keyboards from the 90s, which I liked not just because Cherry manufacters the switches you see in more expensive mech keyboards so it was nice having a Cherry brand keyboard, but also because it looked quite unique compared to modern keyboards. That keyboard had Cherry blue switches, unfortunately I broke that keyboard (entirely my fault.) My current keyboard looks very similar to that one, with Kailh blue switches.

There’s two main companies that manufacture the keys for mech keyboards, Cherry and Kailh. Cherry is a German company and their switches last longer and are usually considered to be a little better to use but that is quite subjective. Kailh is a Chinese company, like I say they don’t last for quite as long but you’ll definitely still get minimum 3 years out of them, most likely they’ll last 5+ years with daily use. Kailh switches are cheaper and so the keyboards are cheaper (except for Razer, they use Kailh switches but charge the same price as companies that make keyboards with Cherry switches lol.) I haven’t used Cherry/Kailh brown switches (that keyboard has Kailh browns) but I understand they’re good switches for general use, especially in an office context. They’re less clicky but otherwise similar to blues.

You might want look up a comparison of the various switches, but here’s a graphic I could find with some basic info. Linear switches have no “bump” where you can feel the switch being actuated, tactile and clicky switches do but with tactiled you only feel it, there is no corresponding click sound (or much less of one.)

I definitely aren’t as fanatical about them as most people, I don’t mind using non mech keys. But I definitely prefer using a nice mech keyboard when I have the option.

Well a mechanical keyboard could help you type a little faster actually. I think the primary appeal of them is that they feel nice to type on though. Another reason people buy them is because they’re good for playing games competitively such as CS:GO.

Especially because the answers to these captchas are used to train self driving car AI, so if you fuck it up the self driving cars will crash and you will have blood on your hands :/

Okay I guess. I personally like just being able to live my life without almost getting shot every couple of hours. I have a friend who basically sounds exactly like you and lives in Texas, he also told me that he hears gunshots around him like multiple times a day. Forgive me but that doesn’t sound particularly appealing.

It was in the news in the UK a few years ago that a doctor visited the US to see some of his family that lived there, and while he was asleep in bed a stray bullet hit him and he died. Obviously I’m sure these things are unlikely but it’s still kind of scary. That and I find the idea of walking around and having deranged psychos all around me potentially having a gun and them being able to pull it out and end my life at any moment kind of… unpleasant.

Same in the UK! When the pandemic started companies stopped advertising on TV because they weren’t doing business anymore, except for the bookies (gambling brokers) so almost every ad was for them. And because people are on doors and probably bored/miserable I bet they did much more business than normal.

I don’t think we have the warnings you’re talking about here, except for sone text on the screen that says something like “gamble smart” lol

Lol, I have been using vDS on my Android phone it’s the DS emulator that I found works best (at least best free emulator.) Most games work well, some don’t seem to translate well to a phone screen though. I wanted to play Sonic Rush Adventure, and it runs fine on the emulator but the on screen buttons just don’t seem to be suitable for that type of game.

The biggest problem with modern advertising is that they try to sell you on the idea before establishing what the idea even is.

This is definitely a running theme with ads, in fact there has been multiple instances where I have seen an ad, and despite seeing the entire duration I literally have no idea what was actually been advertised to me haha.

I think people care about different things, networking might not be something they’re interested in so aren’t interested in spending time learning about it. Where as when you are interested in it it’s not so hard to read, watch videos about it and experiment with it. At least that’s generally how I find these things work.
