So they are just going back to what they had before, probably to save money.

I‘m working as a freelance web developer with creative agencies to create websites or applications and maintain existing projects. Mostly in PHP with a frontend written in HTML / CSS and some JS.
I also had trouble getting into coding initially since I’m a pretty visual thinker but a university course called „coding for designers“ that taught programming in Processing finally got me into it. In it you didn’t start with a boring ass calculator but make pictures and later games with a simple IDE.

Which app are you using? When I got started I just looked at the „All“ feed in voyager and then subscribed to communities that I liked. There are also communities to promote communities like /c/[email protected]
Seriously this and their malicious compliance with EU regulations was the first time I wanted to leave their ecosystem behind completely. Unfortunately nothing else even comes close but if it stays like this, I‘ll ditch them for good and accept a shittier UX for more ethical products.

Something like Voyager or Phanpy runs excellent when installed as a PWA and especially with Phanpy I‘m not even missing a native app or „wrapper app“.
I agree and a lot of the fediverse does a terrible job at it BUT i wish people would just understand tech a bit better.
It’s ridiculous to me how much time some people spend online / on their phone without understanding as much as what a URL is or how to change basic settings. There should really be better education around technology.
It matters as soon as people record themselves using it „wrong“ or tutorials go viral. Especially for a company that is really concerned about its public image like Sony.

Maybe more of a US bubble but American software never considers that people might be multi lingual and public transport is always disregarded.
Examples include: Google knows that I speak German and English since I put it in my settings and yet it tries to auto-dub German YouTube content and auto-translates German comments in Maps.
Public transport stops only appear in Google Maps when you zoom in quite a lot despite being some of the most important points of interest when using public transport. Public transport navigation is also very lackluster.
Those are just examples, there are many more examples in software where you can notice some 20 year old US tech bro came up with it who has never been to a different country.

That would have indeed been a better solution but I guess they didn’t want to let people go? No idea.
A different solution would have been to release Plex 2.0 with significant improvements that people actually want and charge for that again.
It’s a Sony BRAVIA XR-55A95L. I‘ve read multiple reports that there issues with Sony‘s current software on their TVs and people even went as far as to recommend other TVs with the same panel instead.
It was really good in the past but their business model was unsustainable, so they put in more and more bullshit. Parts of it are still better than Jellyfin like cross-platform support and some of their clients like the music player.
Maybe the old ones but the current ones have absolute dog shit software. Random crashes, audio dropping out, notifications that the network connection isn’t working even if you deliberately turned it off, the audio level is in the bottom center of the screen, covering up subtitles and a bunch more annoyances. I don’t know who shipped this and thought it was good enough.
That’s quite an interesting take. I also noticed that it’s magnitudes better at coding with common frameworks and often sucks with more niche applications.
