  • I worked crisis intervention for a few years. I have arrived to probably a dozen or so suicides. About a half dozen left these huge manifestos.

Every. Single. One. Got thrown away, 2 had family members toss it in front of me. Turns out your loved ones do not often want to read the crazy shit you killed yourself over, especially when it ultimately changed nothing. One individual had 1000+ pages written, the family wanted nothing to do with it.

I’m not pro-suicide for anything. Most of these people are just depressed. It’s not resolve when you’re giving up on life.

  • A lot of the people that drive these things are acting like children in adult bodies. I have seen some wildly dumb shit happen. It’s like the car company created by the Darwin Awards…

I literally once saw someone eating on a little folding table/desk of some sort in their Tesla (driver seat, of course) with the dash screen playing some sort of media.

Another time, the person was playing a handheld gaming console of some sort, in the driver seat.

An the automatic lane switching doesn’t adjust for people speeding up in the passing lane well. I’ve seen a couple near accidents there.

  • This was my first magazine subscription…followed by the original Sonic the Hedgehog comic and WCW Magazine (pretty sure it was called that, black and white newspaper type print). Sad to see them go, I remember the classified ad area in the back was usually interesting/odd.

I still have 2 magazine subscriptions that are active. I used eBook readers for a few years, but eventually reverted back to physical print for nonspecific reasons.

It’s nice having a monthly surprise of sorts delivered in the mail that is not a bill or from Amazon.

  • I do want to own a home at some point before death, so I’ve cut back spending across the board. I wouldn’t say I’m financially worse off, just working as many double shifts as possible (I work in healthcare, this is easy to do right now…also not a good thing) and not enjoying life at all for…3 continuous years now.

$115k needs to be your annual salary in USD to buy a home right now, supposedly, I read that somewhere (maybe CNN?) in the past 2 weeks. I make nowhere near that.

Factor in inflation on grocery prices & everything else, an mind you I shop at an Aldi’s and a wholesale club, it’s not a very easy time out there. Sometimes it feels like I’m saving for something totally unrealistic.
