We’ve been shaping ecosystems through fire for so long.
That article’s on my to read list now, thanks.

It’s so fucking surreal to me how much megafauna extinctions have happened in the past 50’000 years.
I don’t think people realise we had like giant land birds (3+ meters tall), megasloths (elephant sized), giant kangaroos roaming round not that long ago.
Biomass is the usual way this sort of data is presented in environmental science. I think calling it “propaganda” is a bit much. But yes if would have been better if that were clear on the infographic.

It feels nice to feel seen and not be dismissed as a political issue for once. Thanks.
(the latin alphabet is the same alphabet english is currently written in.)
German and Italian manage to be phonetic using it.
You dont need IPA to make it phonetic though:
You can stick with latin and just make phonetic rules consistent so if you hear a word you automatically know how to spell it. Like in german.
“We found the fossil halfway up Virginia”
“WHO THE FUCK IS VIRGINIA AND WHY DOES SHE HAVE A FOSSIL INSIDE HER??”
Oh, interessant! Mein Deutschlehrer hatte ein Lernburn aus 1985, vielleicht ist das der Grund, warum ich es so gelernt habe.
I’m armchair Freuding a bit, but I think that’s one of the reasons “Femdom” type pornos seem to be enjoyed by some men.
Like I totally get wanting a woman to take control. But the “femdom” stuff online tends to be degarding, straight up mean. (Which some people like and is okay, but it’s more mainstream than I’d imagine).
Yes. But phonetic languages phoneticise loanwords.
Ie. In Japanese the word “coffee” has bexome a loanword. But they don’t keep the unphoneticised english version. They phoneticise it to fit with their pronounciation and it becomes kohi.
(This is complicated of course by katakana and such but just an example. German tends to so the same, since it’s phonetic.)
Ie. German Kaffee from turkish kahve, or German Komputer from english computer
Fuck spelling norms.
Make English Phonetic Again!

Do you not understand the concept of a safe space?
When you’re literally one of the most politically targeted groups and create a community the point might not be to make it a “free speech zone” but the one place on the internet you feel safe.
That doesn’t make them authoritarian politically. They’re just admins following through on a vision. Where people can freely join their instance or not. Not politicians enforcing their views on people who didn’t consent to it.
Blahaj doesn’t pretend to be a neutral instance like lemmy.ml does. It’s explicit.
Youre mixing up moderation style and political ideology.
Blahaj is moderated to be a safe space for trans people. That means they remove anything remotely insulting or harmful. That’s their moderation policy. That doesn’t mean their political views are authoritarian.
Lemmy.world, sh.itjust.works and Feddit.org are the most centrist ones probably. They’re like liberal leftism while the rest of lemmy tends to be explicitly anti-capitalist.
Blahaj is explicitly anti-tankie. I mean look at the banner of [email protected], so they are clearly lib left.
Whilst dbzer0 is literally explicitly anti-capitalist.
So both of those go lib left. Perhaps dbzer0 more lib and blahaj more left.
I’ve never bought a game that isn’t indie since 5 years 🫡
