This is the practical outcome in a system where voters are forced to vote for the least problematic candidate out of a pool of two preselected politicians. Nothing will change, administration after administration, until the people are allowed to select their own candidates and the media promotes more candidates than just the big two.

Side note: a lot of people right now will be knee-jerking and wanting to respond to me that that’s what the primary system is for. Wilding v. DNC Services Corp and the Democratic primaries that caused it should disabuse anyone of that notion. And trust me, if the Democrats are dirty dealing so are the Republicans.

Uh, yeah. Just wish it was literally anyone else.

But there are literally zero people who I genuinely think are worse than Trump and also a viable candidate at this point.

And there’s literally one person (of who I am not a fan for a lot of reasons) who is a viable candidate to run against Trump: Biden.

I hate our system, but it’s the system we’re forced to use. Hopefully we can change it in the future, if we survive this election.

TBH, I support him more now than I did in the 2020 election, having seen him in office. He’s working the system to get some stuff done, even with the clown show congress he is presiding over. Is he perfect? No. But no elected official is ever going to be perfectly aligned with what everyone wants, unfortunately. Maybe we can get AOC to run in 2028?

But yes, the alternative of Trump basically dismantling the government and replacing it with some crazed shitshow is definitely a motivating factor too.
