Why is this so hard? The only factor I can see as a wildcard is sales tax which can make it end up being an odd number, but by now I would imagine they should be able to make changes to the POS system to accommodate the rounding up or down.
Or, hear me out, include sales tax in the listed price. If a cheeseburger costs (ugh) $5, no one cares that $4.70 is going to McDonald’s and $0.30 is going to sales tax, they just know they’re paying $5.

I have seen hella dumbfucks say it’s because then every store would have to print their own price tags, but they already fucking do that anyway.
The real reason is because it makes things look less expensive.
