A paper attached to a street post with a picture of Lisa Simpson rocking back and forth. The text reads “Attention! Hi neighbor! Did you have a smoke alarm that kept beeping once every 60 seconds that you decided to throw in your yard out of annoyance? If so- it’s now annoying me! Because guess what? It’s beeping right outside my bedroom window! Every time it beeps a piece of my soul dies. Please get rid of it, I absolutely beg of you. It’s been a month.“

Uhhh…this is my neighbor right now. Dont know which one but its annoying lol.
During the pandemic I remember being in a weeklong Zoom PD in-service and one participant had their smoke detector beeping every 60 seconds the entire time. I cannot imagine living with that and not changing the battery; I would go totally insane! It was bad enough hearing it over Zoom every time they talked.
Conveniently, the beeping smoke alarms often beep at a frequency that exits older individual’s hearing range, so for some they simply can’t hear it to know that its beeping
Also there is simply not enough smoke detector safety education right now. I only learned about the 10 year life space of smoke alarms when one in a rental started alarming as it’s “it’s been 10 years replace me!” warning (and being a super young adult I had no clue what to do and called the fire department which was quite a way to start my day)
