I am not a Tom Cruise fan at all, but on a whim I decided to rewatch this movie. I was pleasantly surprised by the rewatch.
I remembered that the movie started with a bang and was doing great until Cruise and Blunt got to the farm house then it stalled.
That was not my experience this time around. This was a really fun movie. The production values were top notch, the action was spectacular and the movie did a really good job of sticking to its logic. I also really loved the mech suits. I list this as the best use of a mech suit in a movie with District 9 and Avatar as a close second and third.
Don’t like Cruise either, but I’m a sucker for any Groundhog Day temporal loop films, so I really enjoyed this one.

If you haven’t seen Palm Springs with Andy Samberg, it’s really good. Another Groundhog Day kinda movie
I have, and I enjoyed it!
Read the original comment and was gonna suggest Palm Springs. Glad someone beat me to it
I prefer to see this one as a video game, the main character keeps dying and respawning at the beginning of the game, and it could be days between spawn and respawn.
Then about 2/3 through, it goes into Survival Mode.
Like The Outer Wilds (if you take the threat of stopping the loop seriously)? No fighting though, but similar discovery loop leading to a commit and execute run.
I need to play The Outer Wilds.
There’s a Chinese series called Reset that has this concept that I really liked too.
