She could just fuck off and never work again and be just fine. Can’t blame her for not wanting to again subject herself to intrusive scrutiny while also trying to sell a product

Last thing I remember from her is how she got shit for dating a football player. The pathetic half of the internet was in a parasocial relationship with her. Can’t blame her for not being willing to deal with this crap.

Last thing I heard she lost her driving licence for speeding. Don’t blame her for moving out of the limelight in the slightest, totally wish I could just potter at my own stuff for the rest of my life!

Her stance on transgender issues has put her – as well as co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint – in direct opposition to Rowling, and their ongoing feud continues to make headlines.

This is probably a big part of it now. Twitter addict Rowling is out there constantly spouting off and all the parasocial fans and Hollywood media expect Watson to be making statements in response. That has got to be emotionally draining, given how toxic that debate has become in the West.

The first Potter book was published right before our son learned how to read so he got to grow up with that story in a solar way that I got to grow up with Star Wars. The Potter books were a huge part of his developement.

She was perfect as Hermione, I wish her all the success she wants.

For over a decade she was one of the most famous people in the world. That is not a pleasant fishbowl to live in so I totally get not wanting that lifestyle.

Seems like she’s successful enough that she could have her agent just demand that she’s unwilling to do any marketing.

That’s not what the industry does.

She might as well applying to be a butcher that doesn’t want to slaughter and process animals.

Thats the job. Thats the industry. They sell toxic products using “stories” and pretty faces.

A former child star isn’t an automatic ticket seller. Her name isn’t synonymous with a “movie that needs to be seen”. She isn’t a Hanks or Cruise, or DiCaprio or Streep (while any of them were in their heyday). Someone like them could get away with it. So long as they took a smaller paycheck, at least.

There are some talents so great that they could get away with this and much more. Brando comes to mind.

But they’re obviously the exception to the rule.

Yes. It’s a big industry with many people employed that aren’t Parasocial parasitic celebrities or pedophile CEOs. Those are just the people in power, slinging slop advertisements disguised as “stories” to the media illiterate masses.

It does seem like a Mitch Hedberg bit. ‘Hey you’re a great comedian… can you act? Hey you’re a great chef… can you farm?’

I thought she was only ever an average actor so I’m totally fine with her not working again.

"But I do very much miss using my skill-set, and I very much miss the art. I just found I got to do so little of the bit that I actually enjoyed.”

I can totally understand this, especially when you get big enough to call the shots on what you work on. The actors seem to have to be everywhere in the media nowadays selling access to their lives in order to sell the movie. Now of course you could say that’s why they get paid as much as they do. Maybe actors should start taking a hefty pay cut to not have to do the media circuit?

Or if youre going to propose radical things no studio exec would ever agree to:

We do more small budget actually-indie films that only get promoted after they come out?
