A short hike into the marshland on the land portion of Thousand Island National Park, Canada’s smallest. Good for birding and reptiles/amphibians, the main viewpoint looks down upon Jones creek meandering through the reeds. Local squirrel are large and jet black, but very skiddish.

A black squirrel with an acorn in its mouth leaps away. Saw a few of them but they were very active and skiddish so this was the only photo I got, big for squirrels.

The boardwalk ends where the marsh becomes the creek. Just as well, as it was sinking into the bog leading up to it.

Geese and Swan congregate in the shallows of the St Lawrence River near Gananoque.
