Wild game meat has significantly less fat in it than the meat produced at modern factory farms. And it might come as a shock to some, hunter gatherers did both hunting and gathering.
Not to mention those guys had to hunt themselves and probably didn’t shove half a pig per week down their fat throats
Up north some animals have tons of fat (sometimes called ‘blubber’). But if you live up there as a hunter (not much to gather up there), you’ll need those calouries.
