That looks grand with the thighs nestling into the rice. And you know that rice flavour is going to have benefited from the meat juices as it cooked. It’s such a good way to cook meat and rice. There’s a reason biryani is so popular!

I might be inclined to hit it with some chopped parsley for colour. And a good spritz of lemon if she’s not already done that.

Hehe thank you very much! Now that you’ve mentioned it, we did have some parsley lying around, just forgot to picture it it was too late 😅 and she made a tahini sauce with a bit of lemon to go with it too! 👍🏽

Shawarma is definitely the meat (traditionally cooked on a vertical rotisserie), but “shawarma rice” is a popular dish where the seasoned meat is served over rice thats been cooked with similar spices (usually cardamom, cumin, cinnamon, bay leaves) - its basically a deconstructed shawarma wrap with rice instead of bread.

I think typically you use Basmati rice for making shawarma rice, as for the meat we only had chicken thighs on hand at the time, would’ve loved to have shredded lamb with it too. Also made tahini sauce to go with it not included in the picture though

I don’t know what website she used but I’m pretty sure you’ll find one you’re looking for if you search around, I didn’t ask her 😞

Some people just don’t appreciate complementing a woman on her cooking.

I can understand. It can be reductive if that’s the only characteristic we value someone for. I, myself, value a great sense of humor, but preferences, like seasonings, are to taste.

I mean you don’t know me personally so I’d just laugh at your jokes, even if you did, I’d still laugh and move on, because I know it’s just banter. Clearly not the case for whoever downvoted you 😅

          Well put!

It was tasty if I say so myself. Usually the lighting in our dining table is terrible (need to get better lights heh), maybe it was just my phone’s quality that made it look good 😅 Either way, thank you!
