Iran sharply condemned President Donald Trump’s reported plans to start referring to the Persian Gulf as the “Gulf of Arabia” or the “Arabian Gulf” in his latest push to expand his global stamp.

This is what he wants. He wants another 9/11. He wants to be able to justify declaring martial law or suspending the Bill of Rights for any reason. He wants them to attack us, hell he wants someone here to attack anything. So he could justify burning the Constitution and declaring himself King.

lol … alien archaeologists looking at the ruins of our civilization and trying to figure out why we destroyed ourselves … not knowing that we blew ourselves up because we were fighting over the name of a body of water on our maps.

Makes you think that all those mysteries of archaeology from the past of lost civilizations might have happened because of some important significant political event … or because everyone was fighting over a ham sandwich.

That’s gonna be one of the saddest parts. Kids will ask teachers, “Why was President Trump willing to go to war over Greenland?” and the likely reply, “Nobody knows, Bobby. Nobody knows.”

They’ll treat it the same way they treat all history … everyone will justify everything and rewrite the past to make it make sense for everyone alive.

Look at the history and lead up to WWI … the first great war … it didn’t have to happen and it only happened because this country went here, did this and tit for tat, we protect that guy with this guy because of that guy … then full blown war … all because a bunch of rich guys, kings and queens decided that was what was supposed to happen and everyone followed along like unthinking robots. But we write about it and remember it as some great event that happened for some heroic reasons.

A lot of it is bluster. But it’s also illustrative of how these names get laid out in the first place. Why is it called Iran and not Persia? Why do so many South American cities and territories have Spanish names? Why is Old New York not called New Amsterdam?

A few bureaucrats in positions of authority can rewrite the map with impunity.

How TF do you just decide to start naming shit in other countries? The Great Pyramids? Now they are “Giant Murica Triple Tittie Buildings” Panama Canal? Now it’s jumbled into the “Anal Manacap”

The US love calling itself “America” . the argument I always (from non us people) hear is that “every country uses the last word of it’s name”. So if you change their name, remember to refer to it as " child" and the citizens as children

Apparently we have successfully appropriated the name because no one else in North America would even consider calling themselves Americans.

I suspect it’s the same in South America but I don’t know many people from down there.

I’m from south america. That’s why this thing bothers me

Edit because I now realized I should have said more: correct. No one here call themselves American but not because they deserve it but because it causes confusion. Instead we call you Yankees, because if you say american everyone gives you sideeye

My first trip to Europe, Met some Candaians and some people from Brazil, casually mentioned we’re all from America. Was told nicely to GTFO of that concept. I feel horrible that we’ve besmirched the name of [the whole/both] fucking continent/s.

just call him a “imbecilic moron that will be ignored”

With the speed at which private companies that manage mapping applications, like Google and Microsoft, roll over, it isn’t something that can be ignored.

The American President is now just a graffiti artist who can spray paint with impunity.

Unless the org gets abolished. Their goal is the complete removal of agencies that help the people stay safe. They’ll remove healthcare last to keep their base placated as long as possible. Their goal appears aimed intentionally at hurting civilians to kill as many freeloaders as they can.
