Our sister community, [email protected] has announced that they are banning all links to Twitter / X, including the alternate front-ends like Nitter, Xitter, etc, and after discussing with @[email protected] and @[email protected], we have decided to follow them.

So, from now on: All links to Twitter, X, or any alternative version such as Nitter, Xitter, etc. are no longer allowed. The only exception will be screenshots in the event that the news cannot be sourced elsewhere.

Please report posts containing these links so that mods can remove them.

As for the reason, I am going to steal words of @[email protected] :

The long-term reason is that the platform as a whole is becoming more and more (arguably already is) a safe haven for fascism, racism, xenophobia, anti-lgbtqia+, etc.

The acute reason is Elon giving Nazi salutes at the inauguration being the final straw. This community will not support Nazism or fascism in any way whatsoever.

Previously we showed a preference for links to Nitter or Xitter but it wasn’t a rule. Now we reject the platform in all of its incarnations and in any way that provides traffic and or reliance upon it.
