I hate people.
I hate people.
That’s disappointing.
Bill Burr isn’t really my humor but I listened to him talk about it as a New Yorker. That was enlightening.
It is bizarre, I’ll grant you, but some people lack common sense. There are people who’ve led such charmed lives they don’t consider the down side with any seriousness, because they’re incapable in some sense. The background noise of their lives is to feel untouchable by life’s sordid underbelly by virtue of their own privilege.
I get that it doesn’t make (common) sense. Why keep a 3D printed gun? Worse, wear the same clothes and spend time in a building filled with people who could use the reward money just to be able to afford groceries and gas. A handwritten manifesto is less weird when you consider how popular journaling is with the kids and young adults right now.
A middle aged white woman who dropped out of high school would probably do better at not getting caught based on the high probability of having absorbed months worth (in real time) of true crime. Jokes aside, I get the doubt regarding his reported lack of common sense.
But privilege and a charmed life can do that, can make you dumb in other ways.
Also, have you ever pulled up the images for the Floyd protests in Portland OR? A sea of white. I challenge you to find black faces in those crowds. My point being, standing up for “the other” is done. This is a hallmark of liberal elite in it’s true essence Vs whatever it is right now, especially over in DC. Mr Luigi over here pissed about healthcare and engaging action for it (not endorsing or encouraging) when he’s probably had healthcare without issue his entire life just means he has empathy.
ETA: or I’m completely wrong, green text just posted this: https://archive.is/2024.12.09-230659/https://breloomlegacy.substack.com/p/the-allopathic-complex-and-its-consequences.
Ok. That is a considerable difference.
Two thoughts here:
How do they find an impartial jury? Is it possible to find an impartial jury?
Will we ever learn if the McDonalds employee who turned him in received a payout?
To the latter. I was into OSINT to a lesser degree for several years. There are people who engage with it for the sole purpose of trying to find criminal people in order to collect reward money. However, the deal is, the amount posted is typically “up to” the amount posted, and, worse, can be contingent on conviction in a court of law. So, yes, I want to know if the McD Employee was paid as of yet.
Google was decent at one point. The true enshittification only started to be felt in earnest ~2015.
Before that there were books and index searches at the library. You would go pull, say, 11 books on Robespierre and the French Revolution. Then systematically index search each one for relevant info to research and write up whatever you were writing up. Same with journal papers though they had their own search devices and were typically housed in those cool rolling stacks.
Wiki is user based. Anyone can write or modify anything on a wiki. There are mostly good intentioned players, but even so. I’m sure thee are people who sidle in to tweak their own Wikis or have a publicist create it. I’m old enough it’s never been my go to unless I’m looking up media. What year did Baldurs Gate come out? Who wrote Buffy the Vampire Slayer? What was JJ Abrams involvement with Fringe? What episode of TNG was Picard taken hostage and tortured with the lights? That sort of thing. That said, if you find something is lacking in a wiki, you can fix it yourself.
It’s true. The YT link is for music. Here’s the article.

It’s a film of goo. If you’re in a kitchen of a smokers house and a tea kettle or boiling pot goes for a bit, rusty drips will form on the ceiling and down the walls. There’s a filmy goo to it if you get it on your hands. It’s a piece of what needs to be cleaned then painted over, sometimes multiple times, to lock it away.
I guess if there’s no context for it, then it’s a mere sepia tone or some such.
I could not find a listing for this paint of yours.
Smoking.
Do you know why all the wall paint and curtains of the 70s and 80s never included pristine white? Yes, that’s why. I’m convinced the choices of golds, oranges, and browns were just giving in to the inescapable film of nicotine tinge on everything, everywhere.
To this day, when I see “cream”, “ecru”, “chiffon” or any other creative name for not-quite-white, I think of nicotine stains.
Restaurant smoking was the worst.
I’ve never, and this is likely why. Growing up in that acrid awfulness was a great deterrent.
You can buy boxes of moldable foam earplugs which can do very well for noise blocking. Individually wrapped in pairs. They carry well in a back pocket. Those work if you’re ok with the sensation of something in your ears, don’t have ear tubes, or some other contraindicated condition.
An aesthetically pleasing pair of full muffs can also work. Sometimes kids need their environment dimmed, and the muffs can work rather well.
This is awwww material.
My biggest issue is the decibel level. I can hear, for now, but the decibel level on those things makes one of my ears feel like it’s being blasted out of my skull and induces ringing.
I use the paper because it doesn’t hurt my ear.
Yes, I’ve seen a doctor, it simply is what it is and my only recourse for that ear is to wear ear protection. In any public restroom, apparently.
They are subsidized by our government. Truly. The broken system created Elon Musk and now the broken system allowed him to buy a presidency for $134 million. Cheap, for him.
How? That is how much the system has devalued American labor since 1981.
They’re trying to kill us all with financial bug bites.
Cue dipshit statement: It’s just one more little subscription, what’s the big deal…
Angel was pretty bad. I’m not saying there weren’t good characters, humor, and such, but the overarch? There was no real motivation on it. Like that last added season of Babylon 5, no compelling main plot moving things along.
Buffy was great, with a great ending. Solid finale.
Firefly, also great, and we’ve heard everything I could say from others already, on repeat. I will add it was difficult to find on TV. Suddenly, boom, gone from the time slot, and then, boom, gone again. Likely didn’t help with ratings.
This feels like such a fuck you to working class. People can’t afford another layer of these costs right now.
Our old asses are over here learning mint and Ubuntu on new machines. That wasn’t on our 30s-40s disco card.
It’s fun. Everything looks good, then attach the external monitor to the laptop and it won’t detect. There’s a workaround, there’s almost always a workaround, but these basics of windows are in pieces in Linux.
The basic expectations with windows, like monitor detection, aren’t necessarily there.
Spite is a hell of a fuel though. Oh and I still have my win 10 disc and put a fresh install on another machine.
Have you ever been on a jury? In my experience it’s 2-4 strong personalities and a bunch of people confused by lawyer speak (because two confident authority figures are telling them to believe e two different things and they can’t reconcile the contradiction) and people who just want to go home and thus go along with the strong personalities.
