Visually at first it’s going to be mostly weight loss. How much depends on how much caloric deficit you are running - rule of the thumb if you eat 500 kcal less than what you burn per day you will lose about a pound/0.5kg per week. Diet is 80% of success. Your muscle gains will be low while you are losing weight, but your existing muscles will become more visible.
You see yourself every day so it’s going to be hard to spot differences - compare monthly photos.
It’s worse than that. Situations where something causes no harm to literally anyone are few and far between. Even less often you have a full and clear picture of a situation. Usually it’s a choice between who gets hurt to what extent and based on what you know you just try to minimize the damage. You will get it wrong a lot.
Life is complicated and all we can do is to try our best and hope others will too.
I’ve built a 50m^2 (550 ft^2 ) greenhouse from polycarbonate I bought online and timber I bought from a local sawmill.
I’ve had no prior carpentry experience and neither my education or work experience (software engineering) was any help. The design and how to was a result of several weeks of evenings spent watching YouTube.
On the other hand the 5 step long staircase I’ve added to the porch because I was feeling cocky is so bad I’ll be fixing it the 4th time next weekend…
That I have to confirm access to all websites and services ran by my employer is blocked from there because of sanctions. I’m reminded of that every time we do a compliance check.
Search for Anti-Coercion Instrument, the one that came into effect in December 2023
EU regulations that can be triggered in response to tariffs include an option to make that completely legal
Edit because I’m getting asked for a source: EU Anti Coercion Instrument that got passed in 2021 and came into effect in December 2023: https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/HTML/?uri=OJ%3AL_202302675
Specifically Annex I, paragraph 7:
ANNEX I
Union response measures pursuant to Article 8
[…]
- The imposition of restrictions on the protection of intellectual property rights or their commercial exploitation, in relation to rightholders that are nationals of the third country concerned, which may amount, as necessary, to the non-performance of applicable international obligations with respect to trade-related aspects of intellectual property rights.
This applies to copyright and patents, but not trademarks as far as I know.
Export tariffs are a thing and Canada could implement them on eggs to make sure US shortages and price hikes don’t spread to Canada. Would that push prices to 1.50 per egg? No, but it would stop Canadian egg exports from helping US pricing at the expense of Canadian pricing.
The mandatory in EU reversing camera.
Check silica packet effectiveness below 50% humidity… It’s not great. Molecular sieve on the other hand has no problem getting humidity below 5%. I managed to buy a 10kg bucket of 3A sieve for about $120 and it’s going to be enough for many years.
I store all my filament in ziplock bags with some 3a molecular sieve - even after 2 years in 45-65% humidity at 21C room I don’t have to dry PETG.
I have bought K712 before the plague and ended up returning them. There was a little more bass than Q701, which was nice, but he amazing treble of Q701 was gone. I found the “upgrade” sounding boring and generic.
To clarify: I have other headphones: HD660S, M1060C and each of them have something to offer as far as listening experience goes, just like Q701. K712 didn’t add anything new, nor was it an acceptable Q701 replacement.
Same, but I have some hope for the 440 lbs anvil in the shed.
You can’t get Q701s anymore… and K712 which was supposed to be an upgrade sounds like shit, so I keep repairing mine and postponing switching to the backup pair I managed to snag as new old stock…
The majority of HDD failures happen in the first 1-2 years (see Backblaze data). I have a NAS that has the same 5 drives running since 2013 and in all that time those disks were not spinning for maybe 3 weeks total.
That said I assume that any drive can fail at any time and anything I don’t want to lose has 2 backup copies, e.g. stuff I am working on on my PC gets copied to that NAS, that in turn backs it up online.
I’m more tired of dozens of reposts of the same porn that I can’t filter out because NSFW is a catch-all for anything 18+. I also have an issue with the quality of the said porn :-P
They (FCC) forced firmwares being signed so nobody can install their own on the off chance it unlocks TX power or frequencies not allowed by FCC.
I’ve had to deal with a family member like that and managed to shock them into shutting up about it in my company. “If you are going to shove your politics into everyone’s faces you’ll have to listen to my opinions too. You know what I think about <insert their favorite politician>? I’d love to spend my weekend slowly drowning them in a barrel of cat piss, but I’m worried it’s too good for them.” 3 years later not a pip.
I wish all episodes were out all at once - I’d binge the hell out of it.
