  • I 100% agree, I’m just saying that life today is much more fulfilling for the average person than it was for, like, the average 13th century French peasant. The fact that we have access to this feeling of ennui in the first place is thanks to our safe and comfortable lifestyle.

Shit could be better, and we should fight to make it so. I just think we should also appreciate that our quality of life is nearly unrivaled throughout history, and even the modern world.

  • “If I own something I can put it to any lawful use without restriction or compensation.”

This also applies to my rental property, because it would be unlawful for me to use it in a way that violates my lease. If someone else gets to tell you what you can and can’t do with your property, is it really your property? Whether that’s because you signed a contract saying “I won’t grow pot here,” or you live in a region where local authorities can simply declare that you aren’t allowed to grow pot there, I don’t see the meaningful distinction. Of course, the concept of ownership is an ill-defined social construct to begin with, so this kind of disagreement is irreconcilable. We simply have different ideas of what defines “ownership.”

As such, whether a vampire cop can enter your property using a warrant depends on whether the vampire understands it to be permission. QED

  • It’s not about ability to tax, it’s about ability to sieze. If the government didn’t own your land, then taking it without your permission would be theft. Since it isn’t theft if they take your land without your permission, it stands to reason that they own it. You don’t own the property, you own a piece of paper saying you’re allowed to live and build there.

  • I use the em-dash a lot. It’s not just about the presence of one, the issue is that LLMs know they exist but don’t know where they go. It’s sort of like a semicolon, which goes where neither a comma nor a period feel right. An em-dashes simply goes where neither comma nor period nor semicolon feels right

Edit: I should clarify, that’s simply how I use them. I’m not smart enough with words to know stuff like “parenthetical clauses” or w/e. Point being, AI just throws them in like they’re sentence enhancers

On my keyboard, I just click the button on the bottom left to see punctuation, and then long-press the hyphen

Correct. We don’t need to make stuff up to hate Disney, there’s plenty enough to hate already

Brooks told The Wall Street Journal: “This was a treasured episode. There are a lot of great memories we have wrapped up in that one, and this certainly doesn’t allow them to remain. I’m against book-burning of any kind. But this is our book, and we’re allowed to take out a chapter.”

Death of the author, Brooks. You don’t get to tear a page out of an already published book.

That said, Disney’s decision not to show that episode is a separate one. Both parties suck tbh
