  • This isn’t at all to say her original stance was misguided. It is to say that she recognises genocide and ecocide come from the same root. Systems of power that destroy ecosystems also destroy people, also destroy planets, also destroy worlds. She is in many ways simply displaying a logical consistency, as much as a moral one, about the interconnected nature of the evils that plague our civilisation. And this is where she broke with a liberal class who see evils selectively and in terms framed and dictated by empire.

hear hear! Too many people who love the “first they came for” poem who still think Palestine is a pesky wedge issue being used against their boys in blue.

  • Agreed people shouldn’t be drinking it, pasteurization makes it safe for everyone’s immune system. Especially important considering the state of most factory farms.

BUT you’re probably remembering right. I’ve had milk straight from the cow (and cream and buttermilk separated from a just milked cow, as well as butter churned from said cream). Buttermilk especially tastes like quite different from the stuff in the grocery store.

  • The communist manifesto was written for a different historical moment but so much of it is still spot on.

I mean come on, it opens basically like “Everyone in the current status quo has already painted communism as their biggest most powerful enemy, may as well unite and make it become that.”

Feels pretty topical given that multiple countries are thinking about naming antifa, which isn’t an organization, a terrorist group.

You probably already know this but for the others, different species of Bowerbirds have different color preferences! There is some speculation these preferences might relate to their own coloring. Also some speculation this might be due to regional traditions.

The Satin Bowerbird prefers blue, both the male and female have blue eyes and the male has that metallic black (almost blue-looking) feathering that some ravens have.
