This is a good rule of thumb to remember. I’d add to trust your observations but also remember that change is inevitable: everything and everyone changes

Condolences to Karen for the BS firing. On the topic of “shit charlie says”, here’s his wikiquote entry. (https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Charlie_Kirk) I love going on wikiquote because it acts as a summary of texts & thinkers that I don’t have the time to read. I say this because normally wikiquote is full of very aspirational quotes, but Charlie’s is very abysmal AND it’s recent too! These aren’t old quotes. These are from as early as this year. His anti-feminist quote (“Reject feminism. Submit to your husband, Taylor. You’re not in charge.”) was uttered in 2025. His anti-black and anti-civil rights comments were made last year in 2024. ("I’m sorry, if I see a Black pilot, I’m going to be like, “Boy, I hope he’s qualified.” January 2024.)

Read “Caste: the origin of our discontents” and you’ll see that income stratification has always been about class, race, sex, and other arbitrary traits. There are “pink collar jobs” assigned only to women. I’ve witnessed anti-male discrimination in Direct Support & Nursing jobs for example and this is because that is not their “place” in the caste system. It’s not a rhetoric; it’s observation, evidence, and an accurate model of soceity

Why

Imo, it is because those jobs are gatekept for specific kinds of people. It is not about the difficulty. In fact, the more education, the easier the jobs get because the lowest class is assigned all the hard manual labor like farming, cleaning, etc. The credentialist system is designed specificaly for inequality and exclusion

some thoughts

• 1. he made a lot of people feel powerless with his manipulative debate tactics. People resort to violence when they feel powerless
• 2. he was asked about mass shootings before being shot in public. Coincidentally, there was a high school mass shooting in Colorado the same day. It’s almost like the trope where people test God’s existence and get hit with a lightening strike
