Matrix servers can talk to each other, so yes, they are federated. But Matrix is not ActivityPub.

The official Pixelfed app released and I also think the whole TikTok ban had something to do with it.
Looks pretty normal. Pixelfed has been hyped. So a bunch of people try it out for a short while, but leave again. some stay.
It’s a one time payment, to help fund the development.
They just need to be federated and all content from all of them is available on each server.
With enough PeerTube servers, it might be possible 😁

I don’t see why the Fediverse can’t be run as non-profit and by volunteers. We are 8 billion people on this planet. I’m sure we can handle it.
You can do it with videos that’s under the CC license.
I have myself setup a mirror of the official Guild Wars 2 channel, so I can watch their videos on PeerTube. I haven’t asked, but I don’t think they have a problem with the free advertisement.
Best people can do is convince creators on YouTube to also post their content to PeerTube, as well as engage with their audience on PeerTube.
