  • The Ring (2002) 3.5/5: I liked the scares, the art house movie in the middle was weird, but overall worth a watch

Back to the Future 5/5: Watched it in IMAX and loved every moment of it. This has to be one of the single best screenplays ever written

The Predator 1/5: Finally watched the last movie I hadn’t seen in the franchise and with good reason. This movie is wildly offensive to the autistic community, insults the movies we like, and has stupid MCU humor. This sucks all around

The Rock 4/5: It’s easy to forget how star studded this is. Plus it’s also a Micheal Bay movie. It’s a little long and gets stuck in the weeds a few times but overall is a very solid film

  • Depends on how you define interesting ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

At some point during 2020 Republicans did one of their latest shitty thing to trans people so the Wachowskis went to their production studio and cleared out a whole bunch of memorabilia for auction with proceeds going to a fund to help

From my memory some of the standouts included a used on screen electric cannon from The Matrix, Speeder from Cloud Atlas, and the binder that detailed all of the plans for the highway fight from Reloaded

My lot included this, a technical sound award from The Matrix, and a judge’s choice award from a queer movie fest for Bound

People always remark how /r/relationshipadvice tells everyone to break up without considering 2 self selection biases:

    1. People in happy healthy relationships don’t ask for a lot of advice. “I love my wife, we go on weekly dates, have couples therapy, are helping each other in our careers and our sex has never been better. Wat do?” is not something people will post
    2. If you go to a drama discussion, shockingly, more dramatic content gets more attention. More drama in relationships almost always leads to" just stop dealing with it and break up" as advice

  • Chainsaw Man - the movie: Reze Arc 4.5/5: Man that’s a mouthful. Beautiful animation, I really appreciate how deliberate each shot was, and even when the animation is “still” it’s purposeful and has detailed changes so it doesn’t feel cheap. You also feel for Denji because even the people screwing him over can see how miserable and unfair his life has been. I’m not sure I’d go far enough to suggest this for non-anime fans but for anime fans it’s worth a watch, even if you don’t see the show

Sonic the Hedgehog 3/5: Sonic 1 walks so Sonic 2 can run, and Sonic 3 can go fast. They were obviously concerned with making their money back on this given the very on the nose product placement. I’m also a sucker for any speedster scene like the bar fight and obviously the apex version of that scene is Quicksilver in X-MEN apocalypse. It’s a good starting point to get us to the good stuff

Thunderball 3/5: I’m still slowly working through the Bond movies in release order. It’s funny how I saw this and immediately said “oh, that’s what Austin Powers was making fun of”. The SPECTRE stuff is cool and it actually is one of the more grounded Bond movies with a plot I think would work in the real 60s. They’re still slow by modern standards which is why I topped out at 3

The Rocky Horror Picture Show 4/5: I love this, I watch it annually. The music is fun, the story is campy, and it’s batshit crazy. I will say the last 30 minutes of the movie I don’t love the score as much and I don’t always feel compelled to finish it
