Dipshit totalitarians’ gift for unintended irony is a really durable bit throughout history
This is funny, but just to keep things somewhat accurate the article says
The Trump administration has secretly authorized the C.I.A. to conduct covert action in Venezuela, according to U.S. officials, stepping up a campaign against Nicolás Maduro, the country’s authoritarian leader.
[Ital. added]
This means multiple people who are “need to know” on this are frustrated enough with the situation that they’re leaking it to NYT, but the fact that that’s happening is just more evidence for the same basic conclusion - they’re a bunch of morons.
I don’t think there’s any good reason we can’t do both of those things at the same time, but even if it goes exactly like you describe at least trying to pursue justice will be an improvement over the last administration
That doesn’t make any sense, either they blame both equally or they blame Dems more, there’s no room for overlap between those two positions with how the questions and possible answers were phrased
Even if that did make sense (which it does not), combine blame both equally with blame Republicans and you’d get even further over 50%, because 39 is a bigger number than 33
If 33 was bigger than 39 the answer would be “yes,” but it’s not so - no
Yeah, this is a complicated one. Based on the information we have I think the jury made the correct call here because the investigation was a mess and the prosecution just didn’t make a convincing case, but we should know what happened to this child, whether it was an accident or a crime, and we probably never will because he was born to a poor family and everyone he depended on, from his parents and caregivers through child welfare and the police and prosecutors, did a bad job looking out for him, because we just don’t make any kind of resources easily available to kids in poverty in this country. Ultimately what I can say for sure is this was a tragedy that could and should have been prevented.
I maintain that popular opinion will find a way to express itself, whether that’s through free and fair elections or some less orderly way
doesn’t understand my fellow countryman anymore.
I think they’re heavily propagandized, but basically decent if you can actually get them to see reality. Take this set of findings from the full poll link as an example
More Americans say they have no confidence at all in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) than say they have a great deal of confidence (38% vs. 26%)
Two-thirds (67%) of Americans think that while making arrests, ICE officers should be required to wear uniforms; 18% say they shouldn’t be required to
About half (52%) of Americans say ICE officers should not be allowed to wear masks that hide their identities while making arrests and 35% say they should
Views on anti-ICE protests are split: 40% believe they have mostly been peaceful and 39% believe they have mostly been violent
Like, those first three bullet points tell me large majorities want the right things, but that last one shows that lots of them are living in worlds of disinformation
e; Also, I can find a ton of headlines talking about how the percentage that blame Dems for the shutdown and that blame the GOP moved up and down a few points respectively, but I haven’t seen any headlines focusing specifically on 2/3 of Americans saying ICE officers should be required to wear uniforms
And yet you cared enough about it to share your opinion, curious
Nah, I don’t think that’s quite right, it’s not like anybody’s ignoring how thoroughly evil these fuckers are, we can just also appreciate that they’re little bitch idiots to a comical degree who get intimidated by fuckin band kids
Like, to put it another way, US troops in world war 2 constantly made fun of Nazis while also shooting at them and such. They’re not mutually exclusive trains of thought, if anything they reinforce each other.
Why are serious journalists even calling this a cease-fire anymore? Just because Israel says it is? Even though they keep opening fire on people?
The headline is trying to make this more ho-hum than it is because it’s coming from a trashy Murdoch rag (but these Republican ghouls are apparently the only ones with the access to report the story), but the real headline is Maxwell is getting preferential treatment and meeting with unidentified people who seem to be have VIP security details with them
They’re going to burn through all of those funds in one or two pay periods, then what’s their plan?
Also, if we ever get law and order reestablished again the people who approved these transfers are going to face accountability for breaking some very clearly written laws
“I need the most fascist propagandist you have. No that’s too fascist” but without the second part so far, lovely /s
“Fascist weaklings do a performative racism to make themselves feel better about how much they suck”
“The small remaining fraction of the administration that is slightly in touch with reality desperately working through the weekend to undo all of the damage their idiot bosses are doing” would have been a lot to fit in a headline tbf
They’re most likely going to have to hire them back after they take on yet another fucking lawsuit bc they violated their contracts.
Yep, this has happened a bunch of times this year, but we only ever get headlines about the administration doing their evil shit and don’t get any about them being forced to undo it a few months later
“Known liar tells idiot to do something he’s not allowed to with resources he probably doesn’t have on hand with a few days notice,” I’m sure this will go well /s
The CIA probably only found out this was going to be publicly confirmed when they saw news stories about Trump running his mouth, both because the White House is being run like Lord of the Flies and because the CIA are a bunch of dumbasses who are actually shit at predicting what governments might do and basically only excel at giving money and weapons to the worst people on the planet
