Star Wars is just a formulaic fantasy story with a sci-fi coat of paint on it. The original trilogy was groundbreaking because of the special effects, and the story was entertaining enough to not distract from that. The other six films in the main storyline bring nothing new to the table, and are thus boring cashgrabs.

I have one and I’m very happy with it, but I use it exclusively for todo lists and taking notes, so I have no need to tinker with it.

As others have stated, grapheneOS is a good choice, and it’s extremely secure.

Another option is murena’ eOS. If you live in Europe, thier store sells phones with the OS preinstalled, and if you don’t, the easy installer app works pretty well with most models.

But fair warning, I recently installed eOS on my wife’s old Samsung S7, and I ended up having to do the installation manually with adb (command line tools). So read up on the phone you want to use, some are easier than others.

The operating system itself is great, and allows for anonymous usage of the play store (free stuff only of course) as well as F-Droid out of the box. You can also add your Google account to get full play store functionality, but then Google starts getting your info again, albeit less than with standard android.

I worked it out, they have ~6 comments/hour average over the last year. A lemmy legend.

In Other Waters. Wonderful atmospheric indie with minimalist visual style and a wonderful chill soundtrack. It’s beautiful and relaxing, but never boring.

Another reason to check out eOS. F-Droid is a standard source for the default app store, along with the usual play store apps. I just got a Fairphone 5 last week, an installed eOS. I’m loving it so far.

It’s about how they do it. They achieve this not only by being incredibly efficient through exploiting thier employees, but also by systematically destroying competition, and using thier marketplace to unfairly favor thier own products.

I don’t have any irritation, but I’m a big robust guy, so perhaps milage may vary.

And sure, I would assume that the sinuses are self-cleaning to an extent, but they are also designed to be a filter to keep junk out of our lungs. The way I see it, I’m just cleaning the filter out before I go to bed.

Neti Pots. I clean our my sinuses every night before bed, and I rarely get sick. Of course it’s not a miracle cure, but it’s great at preventing a viral infection before it starts.

I care about privacy for the same reason you do. Actually I don’t care about my personal privacy bacause I’ve always been careful to not share too much with big tech companies, but I refuse to use products from amazon, meta, alphabet, apple, or microsoft (outside of work hardware/software) because of how they abuse their position of power over the poor.

In addition to rhe other advice, I’d add what helped me the most: install arch from scratch.

Use an older PC you have lying around, or just a VM. Use the installation guide on the arch wiki (or a video on feetube if you prefer to listen to a human explain stuff) and just learn as you go.

Blind trial and error, mostly. Making the game folder read-only was the real “duct-tape” part, it occued to me to do that after steam kept “updating” the game and breaking my solution.

This certainly isn’t of the same caliber as some of these other comments, but I found it to be fitting to the topic.

Last year I was having problems getting the game stellaris working on arch. (I use bazzite now, btw) My solution was the following:

1. download the game via steam.
2. switch it to use proton
3. switch it back to linux version
4. use the terminal to make the entire game folder read-only, so that steam couldn’t touch the game anymore and screw it up.
5. add the exicutable to PATH
6. start the game via terminal

If any one of those step was left out, it didn’t work. I’m no linux expert, so I didn’t have the skills to actuality find the real problem.
