There are old stories from whaling colonies in the south Atlantic (Falklands if my memory is correct) where orcas would rescue sailors who fell overboard. The sailors /whalers often fed the orcas scraps. So either kindness or taking care of the hand that feeds them.

Soldiers attached to units are common practice. Canada does the same with other countries. Some are specific liaison position and others are one time exposure and training jobs. It’s very similar to colleges sending students to other countries for a semester. Both are very different than full blown bases or complete units.

I think it was meant as a security feature in case someone picked up your unlocked phone. It perhaps someone cracked your front screen passcode. I know if you forget your password and have to reset it you lose all previous conversations. It’s very secure this way. Bit of a pain… but secure.

I’m also a supervisor at work but I don’t always get to decide on things. Often senior management gets an idea in their head and then I have to figure out how to implement it without breaking everything.

I do get to say I’m against something and I told you so. Which is usually followed by a compromise solution.
