Yeah, I have a lot of droughts of work. But also, my job is babysitting a little data center. If I don’t have things to do, its technically a good thing because it means everything is working right.

I also get a lot of praise from management for how great I am at my job, ahich feela really weird sometimes because I have had weeks where I basically did nothing. Hell in December we have a lot work freezes so nothing breaks and all the routine work for the year is done so sometimes jts an entire month of basically nothing.

I often spend the time learning new stuff so thats kind of work related.

  • The people pushing these laws are hoping it will have the “California Effect.”

Like when California says “Cars need to meet X emissions standards” so far makers just make cars everywhere meet those standards.

They are hoping that by making age verification a thing in a few states, it will become a thing everywhere.

This fails to realize that one, it’s easy to geofence a state online (VPNs being anwork around). And Two, companies generally comply with California laws because, on the whole, California passes mostly positive limitations. It only makes the cars and world better if they all meet the better emissions standards. Blocking porn like this, is a net negative.

Also, on the subject of kids accessing porn. They are going to do it anyway, anyone thinking otherwise is oblivious to the world, and two, it’s not up to the state to nanny this shit, it’s up to the parents.

  • They are not reducing the debt because they are fiscally conservative, that’s the sound byte they play for idiot suckers. All they are doing is cutting shit until it fails so they can point to it about how much “government doesn’t work” then they can just turn it into a privatized contract to price gouge the shit out of people for the same service they used to get much much more efficiently and cheaper than when it was part of the government.

The real shinning example here is the Health Insurance industry, which, as shown by basically every country that isn’t a crappy hell hole, runs much better when it’s centralize and universally the same for everyone.

But the US can’t seem to grasp that and instead we get endlessly rising costs because profits profits profits! On top of needing it to be a mechanism to strip elderly people of as much wealth as possible to prevent the unwashed masses from ever actually gaining any sort of generational wealth and power.
