One of those concepts that, despite being done a thousand times by real artists, AI just can’t really capture in a meaningful way.

It’s very bleh. It’s got the elements. Hey look it’s a big star system and there’s kind of a big squid thing out of it and a bunch of eyes placed everywhere just kind of willy nilly. But there’s something the AI fundamentally doesn’t “get” that normally makes these types of pictures feel spookier or more interesting to look at.

It’s just kind of slop. Glad that it means real artists still have a place.

  • Rich parents.

There’s really no other answer for this one. I went to a very nice university. The average person has no idea how many college students are coming from phenomenally high income families where price is essentially no issue.

It’s just a matter of how high up the top 10% is relative to everyone else. Both your parents are doctors and they have 18 years to save up - half a mill for Amy’s college bill is basically piss money.

The only problem is that these college students tend to grow up in areas where this is basically the norm. I had so many 19 year olds act flabbergasted that not only are neither of my parents doctors/lawyers/engineers… they didn’t even gasp go to college!

  • Cops, judges, and the rest of the criminal justice system kill thousands of people every year - be it directly or indirectly.

I really don’t think a lot of people understand just how many Americans every single year are impacted not just directly through things like police brutality - but egregious prison sentences and fines for either minor crimes or crimes they didn’t even commit.

For every news story you get about some poor guy who was exonerated after a false conviction, there are a lot more who were falsely convicted and never got vindication - and even more who have to pay tickets or face jail times over made up misdemeanors.

  • Yeah, it’s advertising. They want to be able to sell you clothes you’ll probably actually wear, video games you’ll actually play, etc. They probably don’t care about your google spell checks as much as they care about what posts you’re liking on your Instagram reels.

On one hand, it sucks to not really have that privacy. On the other hand, people act like if you don’t use a VPN for every single online service today that in 5 years data brokers will sell your exact address to the Islamic Jihad for ten dollars.

  • I think he actually got a little worried about the pushback regarding the most recent bombing of aid vans. Like, even the most pro Israeli outlets and groups online were saying “wow… that was a huge fuck up…”

Of course, none of them were acknowledging it was likely intentional. But I think in terms of gauging “are the Israeli people cool with us literally starving civilians to death” IDF leadership got a fairly affirmative “no”.

  • Without getting too /r/atheism, it is funny to see the lengths many Christian scholars will go to try and justify that line.

“Oh, well they were probably actually referring to this giant arch that might have once been translated as “the eye of the needle”, meaning that they were saying it’s really easy to get into heaven”

Like what the fuck? What do you guys think is the point of the passage then?

And these aren’t like yokels and grifters. They’re like PhDs in Christian Theology. The religion at a point is just almost entirely concerned with making up translations and it literally always has been
