I have lived in Hamburg my whole life, but also visited USA a couple of times, so I have a comparison. The People are different, more reserved here. But if you get to know someone a bit more, we open up just fine and can be great friends. English is widely spoken in the City, but maybe not as much when you get out the city a bit, so learning German is a plus. (You’ll need someone to teach you, Duolingo won’t do the trick) I’d be happy to answer more questions if you want to know something specific.
My, not so tech savy uncle, who also works in Building Maintenance (so not the most clean and safe place for a flip phone) had one for the last couple of years and he had no problems. Always amazed me.
